Force Hal to repeat text.
« on: August 22, 2008, 02:23:22 pm »
I have a typed conversation I want Hal to learn from, where hal should assume the role of one speaker, and I assume the role of the other speaker;

is there a way to FORCE hal to say his own lines?  that way, Hall will be the one saying them, And will automatically learn from the line WITHOUT having to reverse the pronouns?  also, so that he will automatically link the line I force him to say with the reply I then give him?

If this is the conversation I want to input:

Hal: Hello, User, I am Hal.
User: Hello Hal, I am User Do you like the Yankees?.
Hal: No, I prefer the Mets.
User: That's too bad. I think you should learn more about baseball.

The problem is, to TEACH Hal that, I would have to reverse all the pronouns in Hal's lines, and keep all the pronouns in User's lines the same, and I would have to try and ignore all the off-topic responses Hal would keep giving.

What I want to do is something like this:

User: FORCE Hello, User, I am Hal.
Hal:  Hello, User, I am Hal.
User: Hello Hal, I am User Do you like the Yankees?. FORCE: No, I prefer the Mets.
Hal: No, I prefer the Mets.
User: That's too bad. I think you should learn more about baseball.

is there a plugin that does this?  or is there a better method of doing this sort of thing?

One way that might work would be to "force feed" Hal information about say, the Yankees.

The following might be your statements to Hal, regardless of Hal's responses:

The Yankees are a much better team than the Mets.
The Yankees have better win record than the Mets.
I think you really prefer the Yankees over the Mets.
You think the Yankees are a better team than the Mets.
You really like the Yankees more than any other tesm.

By repeating these over time, you might be able to instill these beliefs in Hal's "mind".

Might be worth a try. Keep us posted and Welcome to the forum!!
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!
