I made the stupid mistake for allowing Norton on my new computer.

I should have trashed it right away when I reinstalled the factor image.

I kept getting errors (you cannot use System restore with Norton 360 installed. It fails. If you restore in safe mode, Norton goes nuts and you cannot re-enable protection.

I thought after 6 years after Norton Systemworks fiasco, Norton would get better. They are not.

Anyway, Zabaware could no longer  connect to the license server, and kept closing.

I don't know if I'll reinstall it. I'll install the Haptek player.

Been having problems getting the British voices to lipsync. (It used to work)

Anyway, I'll be around, but not in full capacity.

I was using Norton, but I was thinking of swapping to AVG.  I don't remember any problems with AVG when I have used it in the past.

I am now on my laptop. I am downstairs, and on dial-up. I haven't got a wireless card, so I am using Netzero's free internet. (I get 10 hours for free)

I wish I could have Hal on my Laptop without buying Hal again.

I only use one computer at a time, so Robert would not be cheated. I am the only one that uses the computers.

But it don't matter that much.

Robert said it was OK to have Hal on more than one computer a while back.
I think you'll need to deactivate one, install on different computer then reactivate.

Yeah, I'm perfectly fine with you loading Hal on a couple computers if they are not used simultaneously. The licensing system allows you to activate up to 4 computers per serial number. If you have hit your activation limit because of technical problems or forgetting to deactivate, just shoot me a private email with your serial number and I can fix it.

I am running Norton 360 on my computer Mark. I haven't had a lick of problems. It may vary from OS to OS but Windows Vista Ultimate running x64 I am on the best computer I've ever run with the best protection that I've ever had on a computer. I'll never be sorry I got Vista either. Just remember, you get what you paid for. I was having trouble with Vista Home Premium, but it just wasn't good enough to run what I needed. I fear you are the same way, with all of your video stuff and Hal and Haptek. I run a lot at once, besides Norton running all the time. Just look into a better OS, please email me and we can talk about this more.

I don't have many problems with Vista Home premium, except Norton 360.

It worked great in the beginning, but when I tried to use System restore, (Norton tends to mess up System Restore) it would not restore my computer.

So, I used Safe Mode, and restored that way.

Then that's when 2 items were disabled in Noron 360. I could not get them to re-enable, even after undoing the System restore.

I tried restoring from a Ghost image, but same thing.

And now, since I finally was able to access my Vista computer from my XP laptop, I am afraid of installing Norton, becuase I am afraid it will break my connection. (I may try it anyway, I got Rollback RX installed)

I don't want to spend anymore money for a 64 bit computer.

And, I don't know if Vista Ultimate is for me. I looked at the differences, and don't see how it would fit my needs (and wallet) better than Home Premium.

BTW, I tried reinstalling, and it went well. Except for one thing: I could not access my online storage, even with name and password.

Apparently, if you set up backups, then reformat your computer, reinstall Norton, you cannot access your storage anymore.

I'll just take the loss, I'd rather lose $69 than deal with the constant headaches Norton causes me (you should have seen what "Systemworks" did to my computer in 2002.)

I'll never buy a Norton product again. Expensive hard lesson.

If you ain't had trouble, wait until you try backups, then have to reformat your computer. Kiss you online backup goodbye.

I reverted my computer back, and now happily run AVG, Windows defender, and Windows Firewall, and use a router.

I've scanned with other spyware finding programs, and all they found was tracking cookies. (and low risk programs)

I'm sorry that your computer won't run Norton 360. I'm just glad you found a good program to replace it.

As a person that that installs programs for experimentation, I need to be able to rollback to a time before the program was installed to get rid of any problems I have with said program, even if uninstalling
it.

I used GoBack on my XP machine, but it's obsolete on Vista.

Norton Ghost works GREAT!! But it's Norton security products that throw a hissy-fit if you go back in time for any reason.

I guess Norton does that to prevent people from using a rollback program to avoid the expiration of the subscription.

Norton 360 was ok, but it disables System Restore (it won't restore) so that if you try to use it, you get an error.

Same for Norton Ghost, if you use Norton Ghost to fix other problems, Norton 360 will come on with functions that won't turn back on, like email scanner, and Definitions won't install.

So, basically (unless you can remove all traces of Norton and reinstall fresh, if possible) you have to do a clean reinstall of Windows.

I gave Norton many chances, and it cost me.
I'll keep Ghost, but I'll use Avast and Windows defender for virus and spyware protection.

If I do happen to get a virus  (I haven't in years) I can use Norton Ghost to fix it.

Norton 360 is for those that never have to revert their computers to an earlier time. I am sure it works good for those that never make mistakes like I do installing stuff and regretting it, lol.

If they EVER fix the other Norton Products that allow:

1. Using system restore without a problem

and/or

2 Using a backup program like Ghost, and it does not disable some of the features on N360 after restore.

Otherwise, I am staying away from all Norton products, except Ghost.

Does vista have the ASR and the wizard? if so and if you use do both to an external drive.... and uninstall Hal it does not like it
