What's the cause for an unregisterd library?
« on: October 21, 2003, 08:13:55 pm »
When I open the brain editor I get this:

Run-Time error '-2147319779 (8002801d)':
Automation error
Library not registered.

What is the cause of this error?
I didn't have this problem until I reformated my drives and re-installed the os ... which is w2000 server edition...

See Robert! Now I'm not the ONLY one lol...

But I've been having this error for months now... come to think of it, Norton's Speed disk started complaining (about the same time) that it don't work on nt4.5 and I don't have 4.5 I got w2000 server...

hummm.......

Are we going to get any help with this? Being able to use the brain editor was one of the reasons I purchased Hal.

I am not sure if this is the problem but try to initiate Hal with a 2D figure instead of a 3D figure and then try it. You might also try to goto the Hapteck pgm and initializing it. Some video cards just don't work very well with 3D characters. I am running an XT and have only had a very small amount of problems, but resolved most of them.

I got some relief... I reformatted my drives again, re-installed the OS... check Norton's speed disk... check Hal... everything's ok... then I let Windows do it's 'critical update'... still everything was ok... about the third update screwed EVERYTHING up... Norton now swears I'm running NT 4.5, Hal complains about unregistered libraries...  I just don't get it... why have these 'critical updates' when all they do is screw everything up??? Are these 'critical' updates really all that critical???

Ok, I've been comparing the source code of the Hal Brain Editor with the Hal Assistant executable trying to see what libraries the Hal Brain Editor uses that Hal Assistant doesn't.  I've found only one library that fits this case and its called CodeMax.

Make sure the following 2 files exists in your Windows System folder (C:/windows/system32 or C:/winnt/system32):
cmax20.ocx
cmax20.dll

If they do, click run start and type in the following (replacing path name as needed and use back slash instead of forward slash):
regsvr32 C:/windows/system32/cmax20.ocx
and then do it again for
regsvr32 C:/windows/system32/cmax20.dll

You hit the nail on the head with the hammer. Good job Medeksza! The editor now works.
