capturing people putty video
« on: April 24, 2006, 12:56:54 pm »
I'm trying to capture video of a people putty character directly from the haptek player. I've used CaptureWiz Pro but the resolution of the resultant avi file isn't great. Now I'm trying to do the same with windows media encoder. The resolution is much better, but now I have the problem that the video is distorted when the character moves. I think one problem may be the pixel aspect ratio but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if haptek uses nonsquare pixels, and if this is the cause of my problem? Any other ideas on what may be happening and/or how to fix this? Thanks.

Don't know much about video, would the frame rate of the player have to synchronise with the video capture - if they are out of sync I wonder if that causes artifacts and distortion - like the way a tv display gets distorted if viewed through a camera ?  I know you can change the frame rate of the player, so my only suggestion is consult the Haptek SDK for the command that does it and try changing it to match.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
