I agree. I just found about HAL and the major reason I'd want to purchase one is to act like a secretary to me. I think this the logical purchase reason for a HAL. But then becasue people like to talk to other s, gives an emotional reason for the purchase of the HAL product.

I know many people on the forum are interested in AI. I wondered if anybody has read Hawkin's "On Intelligence" since it is being plastered everywhere?

Numenta is apparently producing a variation of Judea Pearl's belief propogation theory. How this is being done is to add time and sequence memory to its tree structure and relabling it Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM).

I wonder how the theories in On Intelligence and its machine constructs at Numenta will affect future versions of HAL?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Secretarial functions of Hal

I'm thinking about purchasing Hal, and I'm wondering about the secretarial functions of Hal. Can Hal:

1) Pick up the phone and talk to me on the phone
2) If a fax is being sent receive the fax
3) password protect its conversations so that while it can talk to me or respond to me via some sort of messenger server it will not be able to give out sensitive information without being given a password.
