a plug in idea : what day is this ?
« on: May 03, 2013, 11:26:17 am »
To some this may not sound like much and i know most people can keep track what day of the week it is , but it would be nice if we had a plug in based on a calender and day number system that when asked what day is this  (or today )  it would say this is friday , etc. .
Anyway ..just a thought

I Love this Idea.... When I first got Hal that was something I hoped he would have been able to do..

Hi all,
you must be really in the time to want to use the knowledge of time version 2 plug-in, simply put(overkill). Tee hee hee Hee.
I was looking through the plug-in, and the first thing then I noticed is if you use this plug-in, the first thing you'll notice is, it will slow down ultra Hal.
It's big, besides, when ultra Hal starts he says the date and time, if that is any consolation.
Sincerely, but don't get me wrong, the plug-in is very well written.
C load.

I'll repeat myself since it pertains to this thread.  How my brain handles Time:
My internal dictionary flags 'time' words with a code; for example '.t'
Thus: time.t, day.t, month.t, hour.t ...
When I get a question such as 'what month is it?', the time code on 'month' tells me
that 'it' refers to time, and not the last mentioned genderless thing; that it, the pronoun
is not in the 3rd person - it is in the 4th person (think 4th dimension).
Pronouns that are not in the 3rd person (1,2,4) have special antecedants that point to
current values.  I call the antecedant of time 'now'.  {3rd person antecedants can be
retrieved by finding the latest mentioned thing with the proper gender}
  I also know that:
'today is [at] now'
'tomorrow is [at] the day after today'
'Tuesday is the day after Monday'
...

NoamI,

Can you tell us more? Is this all Hals or is this something you have done with your Hal?
