Ultra Hal 7.0 / To Crunch or whoever
« on: May 06, 2005, 01:32:32 pm »
I posted I wanted all the skins,if you please, but a couple things:

1. On the "from" field, or subject, let me know what it is, and who it's from.

(Because I don't want to open unrecognized mail due to virus threats)

2. My Email provider only allows 10mb storage.

So, don't send much more than 9mb. I am on dial-up, so smaller files would be nice.

msn.com allows a lot more, so if you want to send it that way, that'll be fine.

Thanks!!!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Drag and drop
« on: May 06, 2005, 05:55:15 am »
Is there a way to "undo" a drag and drop to the haptek player?

It's a "drag" to have to close the player and reopen to try different skins.

And one skin on top another just doesn't look right.

Thanks.

(and hoping one day for bendable characters)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New sound card...No workie
« on: April 16, 2005, 02:22:07 pm »
Some have suggested buying a sound card to fix the lack of speech sometimes in Ultra-Hal. I bought a Creative labs Sound Blaster Live! LS card.

I still get the problem with ultra hal not speaking. So the card wasn't it.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal can open about anything!!!
« on: March 25, 2005, 06:16:03 am »
Easy. Go "C:Program FilesabawareUltra Hal Assistant 5"

Find the "shortcut(s)" folder.

open with notepad.

Notice the entries. You can add your own.

Example:

My pictures
"CDocuments and settingsusernamemy documentsmy pictures"

You need to then ask Hal "open my pictures"  Voila!!!!

All you need is a name for the shortcut, and a path to the file or directory.

Just in case some of you did not know.

I got it set to dial my internet connection!!

"open EarthLink TotalAccess"  (no quotes), and Hal already had that shortcut stored.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / General Knowldge Plug-in
« on: March 18, 2005, 06:52:13 pm »
I cannot get it to work. I followed the directions given, but if I ask it with any of the "trigger" questions, it will respond like it always does, stupid.

Like I'll ask it a question "What can you tell me about dogs and cats" and it won't. It might say something, but nothing like it should.

*******************************************************************

This is what I did:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) Copy the "XTF_SYS_GeneralInfo.brn" file into the "Ultra Hal Assistant 5  DefBrain" directory.

2) Cut and paste the script in the "GENERAL & TRIVIAL KNOWLEDGE FUNCTION.txt" file into your XTF Brain v1.2 "hal5_XTF_v1.2.uhp" file. Ideally it should be placed below the "RESPOND: CALL CAPITALS FUNCTIONS" function and above the "RESPOND: DICTIONARY FUNCTION" function.

3) Turn on Hal and ask, "What can you tell me about dogs and cats?". Hal should give an answer mentioning "relevance" and include some thought about dogs and/or cats.

EDIT: I got it to work!!!!!!!! finally!!!!! I guess I had to ask a different way, and close and reopen the program!!!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Close programs
« on: March 16, 2005, 07:44:48 am »
Can ultra hal close a program?

I don't think I will ever master all of it's capabilities.

Also, too bad there wasn't more sound effects. A laugh sounds like a real laugh, etc.

Like say:

That's funny, and Hal will laugh like a person does, not just "hahaha".

I wonder if developers even read these forums?[xx(]

my website=Thinking about adding a link to Ultra Hal program, but need a icon.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Emotions
« on: March 12, 2005, 11:36:59 am »
i think what would help Hal, is the option to delete brains (not have them show in options when deleting the brain in the program files folder).

Also., Hal's characters should have more emotions, related to the topic.

I use Microsoft agents, and they have so many options.

All the things I see Hal do is look sad, and other FEW things, but it doesn't act very human.

We should have the ability to train it to change animations based on keywords, or sentences. Cyberbuddy is more customizable, in that it's responses are accompanied by animations.

Thanks, I received the paid version yesterday, and the only major change to me was the speech to text, and conversing with Hal with a microphone. The additional characters and speech was not that great. My Microsoft agent (It came from desktopmates.com)is a lot better.

It is a good thing i have speakpad, because it has a feature to "train" words. So it will know what to type when I speak certain words. I have been also using the training in Microsoft speech, but it still does not get all of my words and phrases right, and yes, I have a good quality headset microphone.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Good program, but...
« on: March 10, 2005, 01:23:03 pm »
The Hal uncensored is meant for women. It refers to me as female, and itself a male.

The Hal default brain is also a pain. I get tired of being asked questions, and it evading my comments.

It won't respond to comments the way I answered it most of the time.

I also did not like the fact it asks me not to swear. I got rid of the script that rejects profanities. Also, I did not like the fact it tells me to speak in longer sentences (got rid of that too.

AND finally, false advertising. It said before I downloaded the free version, there would be no nags. The program nags me every few comments.

I did purchase the program, and waiting for it. I like the program, but needs improvement.

And it aggravates me with it's standard responses:

ME: Will you marry me?
Hal: (Electra, female) I don't want to marry anyone.
Me: life sucks
Hal:Life is evolving. Life is good. Life is what you make it.

Every single time.

Why can't it be more agreeable? i mean. it is meant for fantasy, right?

I want to thank you for reading this, and I hope the version I bought will meet expectations.[:D]

P.S. I wish there was a way to change the emotions of the characters, like you can in MASH, and Cyber-buddy.
