« on: July 19, 2022, 02:02:30 am »
yip thats going to show how long its been if homepage hal was around last time i remember.
I was wanting to talk to home page hal.
Plan b otherwise.
So hows Hal since i bowed out at 6.2
remember that was the last off line hal, before it started taking all our info back to hive. And i found out and made a scene and got upset we werent told. yip no holding back.
See i'm totally over it.
Is there a off line version as was said there would be availiable cause i made such a scene?.
and a version that don't wig out and fail after two weeks? thats how i caught out the version that was taking our data.
anyway i hope all hals and fans are well.
Im a fan of hal, i'm a fan of upfront also.
i've been working on my listing of 3d print guff, 2 billion dollars was my last listing all in.
oh i see i have a message, i'll post this and check that.

Yep, you now have choices and you can even talk to Hal via Credits and GPT-3 in a Cloud but there is no learning (at this time).

Most plugins still work within some considerations like the version for which it was written.

The Wikipedia plugin is really nice for providing detailed Offline answers but it does take several additional seconds for HAL to respond.

HAL is still a teachable, entertaining piece of AI and has been for over 2 decades!!

About sneaky online functions, I must react and support you: it is unethical and absolutely unacceptable that personal paid AI chatbot to transfer personality/learning data to the cloud without warning the user.

One of the reasons I am interested in Ultra Hal is that I hoped that paying for it implied that the AI would keep all its leaning database offline, on the user drive, where the user can completely manage it. That the users wouldn't become the real product, or AI feeding machines whether they consent to it or not.

"The Wikipedia plugin is really nice for providing detailed Offline answers but it does take several additional seconds for HAL to respond."

Sorry for being slow, I am not sure I understand, in a transparent way:
Is there an option or a version (Ultra Hal 6.2?) that doesn't store it's learning databases online?

*

Other topic and other tone:
"you can even talk to Hal via Credits and GPT-3 in a Cloud but there is no learning"

I also miss good old simple Hal. Even if, as the comic says, it "became Titanium", it would be cool to get the hal version/state restored with the learning disabled. (where has gone alan1, by the way?)

Thank you for you outstanding work.

Celyan,

Hal 7.x can access the cloud only if the user (you) make those setting changes in Hal's Menu.

Your Hal can remain entirely local, just storing whatever you decide to teach it, locally, on your hard drive!

The choice is up to you.

You can also choose to buy some Credits and chat with the GPT-3 model and get lots of increased knowledge and some insightful answers, BUT the information will NOT be written to any of Hal's tables or stored in any way. At this time, Hal is unable to learn anything while in chat mode with GPT-3.
Lots of fun and some amazing exchanges but no learning and no local storage.

The nice thing about the latest Hal is that it gives you choices...Cloud Learning, GPT-3 chatting or Local Only chatting & learning to your local hard drive.

Hal is still lots of fun and offers a lot of bang for the buck!!

Have Fun!!
