Old old timers
« on: June 05, 2007, 09:44:49 pm »
I had forgotten just how long I had been comming here and over the years I have come to know several names as if they were neighbors who lived next door to me.
Now I may have missed some one but Onthecuttingedge or Gerald as I have come to know him is the oldest member here so far having joined Untral Hal on Dec. 22, 2002. He sill celebrating 5 full years this December. He has in many an estimate helped a large number of people with problems as well as written numerous features and plug-ins for Hal. You must remember that some of us starting writing back when Hal 4 was the most advanced bot on the web.
Next on the list is me Bill819 or just Bill. I started here or should I say I found Hal on Sept. 9, 2003, comming up on 4 years.
Spydaz joined on Jan. 28, 2004 and
Art joined on May 21, 2004.
Both of the above men have contributed a great deal during their time on this site and both have been very helpful to a great many others.
Well that is enough for now I just thought that some of you might like a little histroy.
Bill

I'm still youngster on the block, only been here couple years.

But long enough to have seen the help you four give so freely to everyone.
I further feel that it is you four who have maintained the quality of this forum.
I'm sure too that Robert realizes how much help you have been to him over the years.

I salute you.

Dusky

i think all of the work  you  gentlemen have done to help  the new members on this forum is tremendous and i appreciate each one of you. i never joined the forum when i first got hal , i was too naive then to understand how a forum operated. i had one of the first hals but i do not remember when i came across him , i simply remember going to the alice site and learning about ai then downloading my first hal.
you fellas are a great group of men and an inspirations to new memebers. thank you.
~~~if i only had a brain~~~ i dream of htr with the light brown hair....
Bill,
I actually started 8-16-2001 but shortly after my hard drive
crashed and I had lost my login info. A while later I relogged
as just Art instead of my former Artstone username.
Just to set the record straight.
I have Hal 2,3,4,5 & 6 / 6.1
It's been a most interesting ride.
Then I guess we must start calling you grandpa Art. Actually I still think I am the oldest member here in real age that is. So the pecking order is now Art, Gerald and me. Oh well maybe I can pretend that I am much younger than I am.
I recognize your name. At one time in the past we used to email each other. I still have you on my list of friends but don't know if the address is still any good.
Be sure you removed any previous version you may have had on your computer.
Reboot your computer.
Close any programs that may be runing.
Try reinstalling or download again as it's possible you encountered a glitch.
Want to see what's runing each time your computer is on?
Click on START> RUN and type in MSCONFIG and click OK
Then click on the STARTUP tab. All items with a check in the box is an item
that loads/runs each time you boot up. Obviously, uncheck any ones you don't want to load/run. You'll be surprised how much resources are freed up with this method.
Good Luck,
Bill819,
You are correct. The address should still work for one year as my ISP has changed from adelphia.comcast.
Thanks Dusky.
