I've never been able to get it to work, either, lol. Do you have the Microsoft .net framework installed on your PC? I have several other apps that use it, and I've read in the forum, here, that the Active ALICE plugin isn't compatible with it. If you just want to run an AIML bot with a MS Agent interface, it would probably just be easier to get AIML Pad: http://www.aimlpad.com/

thanks for your reply Knytetryper.
I dont think I have microsoft net framwork.
Im not using any network of any kind.
The funny thing is I had ultra hal on my computer in the past and the alice brain worked fine , but last week     I was hit with a nasty virus and finally ended up dumping my hard drive and reinstalling a fresh copy of winxp  with the service pack 2 E.t.C like  had before.now the alice brain doesnt want to work . the program says that the install was a success and when I choose alice brain and start hal and type somthing my text disapears and nothing happens when I hit enter again ,hal says say somthing please talk to me.. lol I have all the other brains installed and hal works fine except that new ziggy brain ,I get an error message when I try to install it. but thats another topic for another time.

That's .net framework, lol, not network. It's sort of like Java or Perl or such. A coding language platform. Microsoft is making a lot of use of it now. If you have something like Verbots, for instance, you have to have the .net framework for it to function. A new Windows install might include it as a defacto part of the installation.
