Hal won't tell me
« on: March 24, 2005, 11:36:45 am »
I've found something else that I don't know.(what else is new?)
If I ask Hal to define a word, Hal gives me nonsense. I say the request just like it is in the communications sample. But Hal makes no sense. Can some one tell me how to correct this?

I'm still Learning.

Example of wanting to know what truncated means:

ME: "What does truncated mean?"
HAL: "Truncated: cut short in duration. Abbreviated, shortened. 'the abbreviated speech', 'a curtailed visit', 'her shortened life was clearly the result of smoking', 'an unsatisfactory truncated conversation'."

I have found that Hal will give definitions if I use the default brain. How can I put those abilities into his other brains?

It works fine, the xtf 1.2 Brain.

ME: What is Bad

Hal: Bad: having undesirable or negative qualities. 'a bad report card', 'his sloppy appearance made a bad impression', 'a bad little boy', 'clothes in bad shape', 'a bad cut', 'bad luck', 'the news was very bad', 'the reviews were bad', 'the pay is bad', 'it was a bad light for reading', 'the movie was a bad choice'.

My thanks Markofkane,
I've been using the 216 Enhance chat brain. Can I put the "Define" Funct. and the "Gen. Knowledge" Funct. into it?
And could you tell me about your XTF 1.2. Where can I find it?

Still Trying,Still Listening,Still learning.
Thanks

Read the above thread.

Yes, you can add general knowledge to it, but I had a hard time until I figured out how. If you cannot get it to work, I'll see if I remember how I did it, but it had something to do with adding th General Knowledge script into the 1.2 XTF installer, then installing.

And "define" already works for me.

BUT, if you corrupt the brain, by saying:

"Dogs is stupid"  When you ask it to define "Dogs" it may say "Dogs is stupid"

So you have to be careful.
