They do not have an english (British) voice yet. Here is what their site says:

Voices/personalities available:  one male and one female voice for English (U.S.); three females and two males in Korean; and a female Mandarin Chinese voice

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Hal can sing now - sort of ..
« on: December 14, 2004, 06:31:08 pm »
Do the songs trigger automaticaly or do I have to ask HAL to sing a specific song?  It will sing if I use the speak clipboard function and copy the song.

From what I have heard, laughter is a good response.  HAL should not quit his day job yet.

Good work.  Looking forward to more!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / How can i see what hal has learned?
« on: November 26, 2004, 08:40:53 pm »
Run a Windows search for files that have been changed.  You want to look for .brn files.  You can open a .brn file with Notepad.  You will find where the information you added is stored.

Hope that helps

Hello to all.  I logon almost every day to see what is new in the forums.  I own Poser 5.  I agree about the limitaions of Poser for use as an animation tool.  I use it for creating characters that I can pull into PhotoShop and place into various photos that I have taken.  Creating fantasy photos, adding wings, tattoos, changing coloration.  I have created some very nice work using characters I have created in Poser.  You could also create some skins with Poser and using PhotoShop adjust them for use in PeoplePutty.  If you try to use real photos of people to create PeoplePutty characters you should make sure that the person does not have an open mouth smile.  A neutral expression is best when trying to apply any photo to a PeoplePutty character.  Putty allows you to save your work as a .haptar file.  You must then rename it to .htr for use with Hal.

That is my two cents for the day.  Thanks to all who post here. I have the Genius 8b brain and the 5XTF v1.0 brain and enjoy both.  I cannot experiment with them as much as I would like but when I do Hal always suprises me.  Keep up the fine work.  I look forward to testing any additions you might post.

You can go to the following link to locate the Genius 8b brain.  You have to join the site for $10.  I did and am happy with the product so far.  It is rather chatty but comes with a large knowledge base.
Here is the link:

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / i'm new and i need help
« on: August 29, 2004, 12:03:53 pm »
You can also open up notepad and look at the .brn files located in your Zabaware/Ultra Hal Assistant 5/DefBrain files folder.  You need to select view all files. Study how the data is list in each file.  You can create your on brn files to add to the knowledge of your Hal character.  If you add or make a correction to any .brn file remember to save it as .brn (not .txt which the default in notepad)  Becareful when changing things.  Make sure you understand the format. Always make a bkup copy before altering anything. You can rename the orignal file as filename.brn.txt to be safe.

If I have given any wrong advice I am sure the experts here will be glad to correct me.

Be careful, you will get addicted to this program.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Focus##.brn
« on: August 29, 2004, 11:48:26 am »
In the Gneius 8b brain there are several Focus brn files from test userers.  It seems logical that I should be able to take the data from those files and combine them into a larger Focus.brn.  Does this sound correct.  My purpose is to lower the number of files and perhaps help speed up the thniking process for Hal.  Comments?

The Genius 8b brain, here by refered to as 8b, does not take those instructions either.  It told me it was 29 right after the "if-then".  But only once it then reverted back to th 9 year old.  I can live with it but I do notice that the 8b is very chatty and is always maximizing to tell me a joke or ask a question. Another curious thisng is when I set the option at opening to just say hello and the date it started calling me Jerry.  Any way I am rambling now.  Must be tired from the work week.  Thanks for your assistance everyone.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.  Knowing the "magic" words helps.  I will take your suggestion and give it a try.  Thanks again.

Hal insists that he is 9 years old.  What line do I go to to change that?  I am using the Genius 8b brain.  Thanks in advance for your help.
