I would like to have the program check my email and read the subjects or headers or maybe just the senders (whatever works). Is there a way to program Hal so that I can request that it checks my email account, and then have it do so and read me the info?
Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I am a newbie....
Thanks for your help,

Hello Dominicw,
If you have Hal 5.0 you can go into "General Options" and then select the "Internet" tab. Then you should see the fields to enter email account information. But it looks like that Hal will only work with POP3 E-mail type servers. If you have an ISP then the email service with that ISP must be a POP3 type in order for Hal to work.
What is POP3?...well, if you have AOL, I am pretty sure that is not POP3. Hotmail is a web-based POP3, but the last that I heard was that it does not work very well with other integrated applications. However, I did hear that EarthLink is one of the best ISP POP3's out there. Below is a link to CyberBuddy Email Setup Information and I also posted an unformatted list of the same information below the link.
Good Luck,

Thanks, I have owned a medium enterprise hosting company for about 9 years...I should have clarified that I am aware of what a pop email is, I am trying to find a command or code to edit a brain file that would allow me to request to the program to check my email (on command). I have seen the options that allow it to check on and off, but what I don't see is to have it check either more often or when I ask it too. I have tried "Check my email" and every other sentence I can think of.
Thanks for your reply, hopefully you can help me now that I have better explained myself...sorry for the earlier post.
