Duskrider, I agree with you: the MouseVu.js file brings to bots a little bit more of "life". But used in movies, the mouse could seriously influence the play of the actors! [:D]

Thanks Alady. As you know, the last time we spoke of this, I thought it was impossible to control two characters in a single window (movements and voices). Until Freddy (thanks to him too) told me to try the SetName command, in the Haptek guide. After a lot of unsuccessful experiments, Google finally led me here. I promise you, Alady, to give you the "secret". I think it's easier than making movies like yours. I don't know how you do this. [:)]

Now, maybe I could take a look to the remaining 95 percent of the Haptek guide I never read.

I really hoped to find the solution in the link given by Dr. Benway, (http://people.haptek.com/clint/vftests/). Broken. Then a lot of very empirical experiments. Not totally satisfied with the result because I still encounter some limitations. The characters are less "independant" than those (in two separate windows) of my first experimentations, Trinity & Lola (http://"http://gt40.chez-alice.fr/Haptek/index.html") and Meghan & Jessica (http://"http://www.pandorabots.com/pandora/talk?botid=952ce8e5ee3623d1").

3, 4, or more characters? Sure it may be possible. But my dear old computer (Celeron 400, Windows 98SE and IE6!!!) doesn't like too numerous Haptek characters on its screen. I tried with two fullbodies, and with one torso and one fullbody: it works too but the characters lag. No problem with two torso's (and no great interest in two floating heads!).

Maybe someone here could improve the "thing".

I have four 400mhz PIIs running W98. My two main computers are a little less antique, 1GHz PIII W2K, but the networked computers run just fine for what they are, word processors, terminals, storage devices etc.

Hate to tell you this, but my Roland midi keyboard is stretched across the two Gateway G6-400s full towers. Perfect height.

I remember the DOS 3.0 via 286 machine and the Windows 3.1 very well, I quite enjoyed playing Atari 800XL as a kid, mostly 'pitfall', I certainly remember windows 3.1 being the latest OS. I can't believe that windows 3.1 is still so expensive as of this day, six disks for installation and can still be purchased from microsoft for almost the same price as a modern OS.

No, it's to keep you from buying the old versions. They have it, in case you really need it, but they want you to buy the new one.

It's still greed, really, why else be in business if not to make a profit, but it's enlightened greed with a plan.

And it's not a rip off, it's the same price. Windows always sells for the same price as when it came out. That's how they get you to buy the new versions. No sense waiting for the old ones to go down in price. Just because some people lower their price on their old stuff doesn't mean its a rip off if you don't. Heck, the price on a Monet Painting has gone up over time.

I saw a copy of Win 2.0 about five years ago for $79 or something, the original price. I asked the guy and he said that MS won't let them mark it down. I should have bought it, it's probably worth more as a collectors item.

I've bought loads of MS systems over the years and they have never offered me a discount for upgrading to their newer system. Considering they said XP would be the final Windows System and then they bring out W2003 and now Vista. That is a rip off.

I have a hard time complaining, because I sell my artwork at the same price no matter how long ago I made it, no matter who sells their artwork at what price and no matter how much a customer thinks they should get a discount. Willing seller and willing buyer doesn't sound like a rip off to me. My customers are welcome to purchase from anyone else at any time.

I suspect that you will find they never really said what you think they said, or if they did, that you don't really need the new OS, or that new technology invalidates the old promise... or some such thing.

It may be shady marketing, but MS is not the only one who does it. Ever seen the profit margin on vitamins and the disclaimers they post in the back room under a pile of organic compost?

The alternative is to have the government oversee every sale of every product in every shop around the world. I prefer to be wary when buying... I mean, you didn't really believe them if they really said such a thing, did you? Like they are going to stop improving their software (and making a profit) just to keep an inferred promise.

At least they are not a true monopoly like Apple, where they own the computer, the software, the shops, the repair center and the accessories.

unless you are a developer and have visual studio or visual c++ and you can
debug it yourself, not much you can do except contact tech support for that
application at www.ifixitpc.com

could be an issue with the application, or something else that's installed [:p]
that's conflicting with the application...could be a few possibilities
