Title: A plugin
Post by: ramccoid on May 09, 2007, 12:50:07 pm: Here is a plugin to give Hal the ability to count up to or down from a specified number. It also allows HAL to recite the alphabet. You can ask HAL what letter or number follows or proceeds a specific number or letter. Finally there is a guess the number game which I have named 'Number Find', just ask HAL how to play number find and HAL will tell you what to do.
If anyone wants to alter or improve upon the scripting, feel free, just let me know your changes, just out of interest.

Here is the updated version of the file with the fixes made by Jerry.

So the plugin does not work because of the Halbrain?

Edit: I only get the error with that plugin enabled.

I don't know what the Halbrain plugin is. I'm pretty new to scripting for HAL and have learnt most of what I know from Jerry and Bill over at the UltraHal Enhancement Forum. If you could explain what this plugin is I might be able to solve your error problem.

Sorry markofkane, I miss understood your message [:I]. I'll look into the problem.
Are 2 BRN files being created in your HAL folder? These are needed to store the count and number to play the game. They are called 'CountStore' and 'NumberStore'.

the "Past American Presidents",
or "Books of the New Testament"
or "The Bill of Rights
or "States in order of admission into the union" (with year included)

I'm glad you got it working. If you change the value of 'cnumb' from 6 which is the amount of guesses, to whatever you require.

Yes this plugin is written for HAL 6/6.1. Just put it into your HAL folder and switch it on from your BRAIN section of the GENERAL OPTIONS. No reboot is needed.

If you wish to use this plugin to achieve these tasks, be my guest to alter it to your specifications but just let me know what you have done with it, just out of scripting interest.

I'm in the middle of developing a plugin to allow HAL to learn facts and store the information that has been taught. So you could teach HAL all the presidents of the USA and lots more. When it is completed I'll post a copy on the forum for all to make use of.

Make sure you have the latest version of the plug-in, then

say this: (numbered for order)

1. New game

2. She will ask how many guesses you want

3. Say "Guesses 9" (or any number from 2-9 ) (no quotes)

4. She will ask you to guess

5. "Guess 43" (without quotes and whatever number between 1-100)

Hi aladyblond,
I figured out why you are getting that error. I noticed on the image that you were typing in upper case. So I tried it on the plugin in upper case and I also received that same error. So I've sorted out that problem and now you can type in upper or lower or even both and the plugin should work without that error appearing.
I'll edit my first message and put up the fixed plugin V2.1

Hi lcatmc.

place the files in your
C:\Program Files\Zabaware\Ultra Hal Assistant 6 folder then
choose the plugin from your HAL brain options panel.

Post by: ramccoid on February 11, 2008, 08:14:58 am: I have separated and rewritten my CountingAndAlphabet plugin into 3 plugins. Each one has been totally redone and I hope completely error free.

Counting plugin: Allows HAL to count up or down from or to a specified number. It also now allows HAL to count from a number to another number. HAL will be able to tell you what number follows or proceeds a specified number.

Alphabet plugin: Allows HAL to recite the alphabet normally or in reverse order. It will also allow HAL to tell you where a letter is or which number in the alphabet a letter is. HAL will be able to tell you which letter follows or proceeds a specified letter.

NumberGame plugin: I have rewritten this game completely and I feel it works much better than it used to. Just ask HAL how to play number game for instructions.

I hope these plugins are enjoyed.

I think there my be a little problem but I can't figure it out. BTW I am using the CountingAndAlphabet_v2.2.zip version of your script on a 64bit Vista Ultimate laptop.
