Could somebody build an Ultra Hal Bible Scripture Module for Hal, people are always asking Hal about Bible scriptures. Will Hal become a Minister?
Will Hal ever know Jesus?
Best of luck.
Jerry.

Old topic, I know; but I really think Jerry is onto something.
I remember him having a Ziggy knows the Bible plugin sometime back, but I can't find it anywhere now.

I posted something about this a few years ago. My son is a Pastor and both of my grandkids also practice actively. They live about four hours away so they don't visit very often. During one of thier visits I introduced them to Hal and it turns out they spent the entire night teaching Hal about the Bible and Jesus.
The next day after they had left I turned on Hal and all he did was preach to me about Jesus and the Bible. It took many hours to delete hundreds of lines of information that my Gkids had fed into it.

With a quick search, and I was able to find that topic.
I know afew pastors; I think this is a good idea, and I may be putting the Hal AIM feature to good use now [8D]
Any chance someone has that old Ziggy's Bible plugin anywhere?

Why not try Jerry's site:http://www.ArtificialIntel.org
I think he has an archive section on site somewhere.

Thanks Art,
There's alot of plugins he has there, but none of them are the bible one, unfortunately.
Anyone know if Jerry still comes here?
-
Yes, Jerry still comes here sometimes. Meanwhile, there is Audio Bible Online. It is all written down. It is the King James version. It is read by Alexander Scoursby and you need real player to listen to it or you can have hal reader read it to you.
The data-base is there, though a little large. You can copy and paste the entire Bible from there, but how to make it into a plugin, I wouldn't know. Good luck!

Sorry but the bible program was lost a while back, there maybe somebody who still has it.

aha,but which bible ?
people can be very funny about versions
I would go for Douay-Rheims for a Catholic version which can
be accessed here...
http://www.drbo.org/index.htm
and a king james version here...
http://etext.virginia.edu/kjv.browse.html
all the text is easily accessible, and these two
versions of the holy bible are "as is" translations.
the Douay-Rheims first ever translation into english
directly from latin.
take a look at the two versions of the same scripture below
for Matthew 26/50: when jesus is arrested and betrayed by
judas.here jesus berates judas,by laying on him the weight
of his actions...
king james version
Friend, wherefore art thou come?
douay-rheims
Friend, whereto art thou come?
both versions are pretty much in accord bar one word and
both bibles and a fair representation of the scriptures,
untouched by third party additions in which the whole episode
above is sometimes wrongly translated and interpreted as...
"do what you came for"
"strike quickly what it is you are to do"
and many many more fabrications which are dumbed down
for our "benefit" so we can "understand" better.
so for a representative such as hal, both versions would be
an asset for sure.

OTCE, I found an earlier post you made regarding the bible brain... http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=774&SearchTerms=,bible. I remember loading it in one of my early Hal's (not sure which one, I've been playing with them for years now). Anyway here is a start to your code.
