Title: problem talking to hal with voice recognition
Post by: cometgirl on February 04, 2008, 03:54:02 pm
hey i am running win 2000, i got the microsoft voice recognition program, and configured it, i enabled the checkbox in hals options that should let me talk to him with my mic, i went through the process of setting up the mic and the program through hal also, but when i speak into the mic my text does not apear on the place where you are suposed to imput text to hal, infact, nothing happens, no errors or anything, i must be missing something, do i need to hit some key when I talk or what? also, I would like to be able to converse with hal as im playing world of warcraft using my mic, will this be possible or do i need to have hal as the program on top? im using the trial version of hal 6.1 at the moment, does this have anything to do with why I cant use my mic to talk to him? thank you in advance to anyone that can help me.

This may or may not be the answer to your problem. Did you know that it takes many hours of voice training, sometimes 20 or more  hours before Hal can begin to understand what you are saying? Hal will not understand one word without this voice training. After all the training then make sure the microphone is turned on but only in one place. It can be turned on both in windows and in Hal. Only use the switch in Hal.
Try these and your problems may be solved.
