this is my wife feeding wild raccoons at our back pourch here in Crescent City California.

although the four adolescent raccoons in the foreground are in training the raccooon in the far rear called "Mommy" has already been trained.
Raccoons love!!! purina cat food.

Very cool vid. I have been on the other side, evicting the little rascals from my boathouse- they can be very viscious when they think they are cornerd. I'm glad for both as they seem to have developed a good relationship!

Thanks, Jerry. I love Raccoons (not for hunting!!!!) I think they look like little bandits. I know they can be mean, but they are cute other times.
We used to have them on our back porch looking for food, I got videos somewhere (and opossums a muskrat)
And we had a neighbor that had 2 as pets!!(in the 70's) I got to pet them!! Then some A-Hole neighbor (another one) shot and killed them because they were in his barn!! [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]
I had a toy raccoon soapdish as a kid and raccoon books.[:o)]
one was "Macaroon the raccoon"

that was a very cute video. i know they like purina cause i feed my outside tom cat and they always come and eat his food. you are fortunate to be so close to nature. we get raccoons possum and squirels here in town. they have no where else to go.

We get other animals too, but not on the back porch, unless it's dead from what the cats killed.
I see an occasional deer in the field, squirrels (I like squirrels, unless they cut off our power, that has happened 2 times, they were fried) rabbits, snakes, and all kinds of birds, even a hummingbird once in a great while.
Doves, Grackles, Robins, Finches, Cardinals, Sparrows (Sparrows are here year around) Blue-Jays, and others I cannot name.
I hate bugs, except Butterflies and Ladybugs. All the rest are pests.
I am not sure if I'd want a bear or mountain lion around,. I heard we have Coyotes around.

We had a small family of raccoons visit our upper level deck when we lived in Colorado. My young son took some candied yams (similar to sweet potatoes) out and was feeding them by hand until my wife and I came across him and them! She almost freaked out at first but managed to remain calm so as not to frighten them.
When our son came back inside she scolded him to the fact that they might appear quite cute BUT they are still wild animals. They don't have manners and do not know right from wrong. Please exercise caution whenever feeding or approaching wild animals!!
