i had someone on another forum ask me this question if our a.i's were being developed to be future telemarketers and he posted the following conversation what he had on the phone :
I got a phone call today I thought you might find interesting,
it was a telemarketer asking for donations to a charity,
as I was listening to the rap, I started thinking it was a recorded call,
so I asked are you real?
"do I sound that bad?"
me>you sound like a recording,
"I'm a real person, I'm using a computer to help me"
me>OK, get to the chase, how much does this charity want?
"great, can we get your name to send the voucher"
me>I didn't say I would give anything yet
"is that ok?"
me>huh? where are you calling from?
"hold on I need to adjust volume"
me>you sound funny
"do I sound that bad?"
me>you sound like a machine
"do I sound that bad?"
me>yes, you sound like a recording
"I'm a real person, I'm using a computer to help me"
on & on,
it was a program that responded quickly to possible answers to questions,
if it needed time to figure out an answer it would need "to adjust volume"
but it repeated some phrases exactly a couple times over,
it was pretty impressive, I was going to just start saying nonsensical things just to see what would happen, but I got bored, so I hung up.
is that sort of what your messing with,
is that the future of HAL? to be a telemarketer?
i told him that it sounded to me like an automated chat bot with pre written answers to questions and yes this may be a loophole some telemarketers are using (plus it eliminates paid humans ) but i can see to where the a.i program of hal etc. could be used in the future for such devious things such as (oh say it will never be true ) telamarketing ![B)][:(][V]
