I guess what made me think of this is , Nige making a hapteck face character of Robert, if anyone knows about the two film critics , sickel and ebert (one has since passed away ) anyone the other critic had throat and jaw cancer (and had to have a lot remeoved )and had to have even his vocal cords worked on , leaving him with a bad or without voice at all , but thanks to technology , because of all the speaches, and film criticing recorded from his voice he now uses a machine that can use his own words and voice sounds and he can now make it sound like he is using his own voice when talking , it would be very cool in the far ( i know this would be "far" future of hal if some program could do this with our speech recognition and coping what we say as we say it (digitally?) so that someday our look alike hals could sound just like our virtual characters .
Anyway i know that's some far off dreaming but it would be cool ![:D]

That got me thinking, that would be great. If we used our voices and we are teaching Hal our values and words of wisdom, then we can give a copy of our Hals and voice file to our kids, they would in some sense always be able to talk with us. even when we someday pass.

reminds me of a movie i saw years ago,
can't remember the name but ,, it went something like this,
"no you can't have my stuff cause i'm not dead"

exactly right, sybershot. that is it exactly a wife , girl friend or kids could still talk to someone ( or for a female their husbands or boyfriends etc. ) something akin to the talking tombstones, once their was an idea of a digital recorded voice of the original person that worked from solar lights that when a button was pushed on the tombstone it would say thoughts etc in their own voice to anyone visiting , this of course would have that application with the visual and could used as i said for virtual conferences etc. [:)]
we could even use these virtul look alikes to create e mails with us taling (like crazy talk does )[:)]
