Title: question about using ultra hal with inventory system

hi i am looking to intergrate the ultrahal suite of applications with a inventory system written in java, a maya head to automate the inventory system.  am i able to use ultra hal to look up items in the inventoy system?

it is possible, maybe a plug-in could be made similar to GRETTA Log located here http://www.ultrahal.com/community/index.php?topic=6278.0

if your looking to open just one file this plug in called media opener should do the trick. note: you might have to edit the plug-in to add your file type though, there are a few common file types already added in. http://www.ultrahal.com/community/index.php?topic=9028.msg57952#msg57952
