i am wondering , does anyone know if hal can use or if their is a way to use animated gif as a back ground for hal ?? if so their are many very nice animated gif we could use !

I remember Maviarab was trying to do that back in 2005 but they do not work - he made a desktop background instead.
An idea though - you know your active backgrounds ?
How about getting a free gif editor and extracting the frames - then use the frames in your active background.

I may try it but of course i have a hundred projects going right now at the same time , so may be a while . if anyone else has more time and can try it let everyone know the results . all i know is they have some beautiful animated rippling water scenes etc. that i have seen some with reflections etc. would be nice if we can have really nice back grounds like that! :)

well i tried a gif and yes it doesn't work in hal , i think that if hal code was made to accept the gif extensions also instead of just jpg that load as background pictures, that it could work but i am not sure , others may know for sure .
here is a photo realistic gif page i found . http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/cinemagraph/
