Title: ERROR 52

I downloaded hal 5.0 upgrade, now the program starts twice and I get  two Hal icons on myu bar, then a box pops up stating
"ERROR 52 Bad file name or number occured and Error 0occured on line 0 in column 0 of."  If I close one of the windows, I get no speech from the Hal faces.
Any help would be welcomed by me.

Try to delete one of the icons from your startup menu. Then reboot. If that does not work then delete both icons and reboot. You can start Hal from the regular menu at that time and it should make another icon on the menu.
In my case I could not get Hal to install correctly until I shut down a bunch of things that I had running in the background.
