Question about full body characters.
« on: May 18, 2008, 03:02:58 am »
Hi,

I know most of you are using full body characters and I think I am ready for that stage. How do I go about this? Can I use full body characters in people putty and how? Can I permanetly asign a costume, outfit or texture to a specific character?

                                                       Thanks- Oog

You would need the Fullbodies, and no, I don't believe you can use them in people putty (someone may correct me) , and you cannot, to my knowledge, assign a costume to any character (unless Neil or someone with more knowledge than I can do it) There are scripts, which I do not use very often, that when dragged to the fullbody, will set it up the way you like it.

Also, Dusky had scripts to automatically load a costume on a character in Ultrahal GUI when you select that character.

I can get you started, download the fullbodies from here:

http://www.filecrunch.com/fileDownload.php?sub=50438457cfcf771cdf231d300c4efbb7&fileId=148612

(Savefile kept giving me a security code error, when I know I typed in the right code)

Mark: I'll think about it
Laura: Don't think about it too long or I'll throw you out on your ***king a**.

Hi, Ooglor.
The only way to permanently assign a skin, etc to a full body is
to pay Haptek $100 & get their HapTArgh program.

NIGE,
Should have answered this sooner so it might get read. I've been loading fullbody with her own special skin for ages.  The problem is the htr uncompresses and has it's own skin which it loads, if anything is changed the htr is corrupted. I made a file called new.htr that loads fullbody then loads the new skin.  There is also a plugin created to do the same thing but there are problems with this part of the plugin.
Quite a few things can be done with fullbody characters by using the uncompressed haps which you can modify then load by making your own htr.

This sounds interesting to me also. Do you know of a way to convert obj's to usable haptars?

Yup, Hapteks 'DeltaSetMaker' will do that, but you would also need their 'HapTargh' program to make an HTR/haptar.

Yes, I have learned that Haptek has overpriced and mysterious plug-ins that will allow this. Is there a way for the common man to do this without dishing out hundreds of dollars? I would gladly pay $50 to import my own obj models and create textures with them. Haptek's prices seem solely directed at not allowing people to do this.

It's the only method I have heard of for playing around with object files.

I'd tried to generate some interest in this at zabaware some time ago, I also last worked on this some time ago but will try to give you accurate info. I have Hal located on the d drive so my paths are useless to anyone else. My Haptek files are on the C drive like the majority.  You must make copies of the uncompressed files. To do this open a Htr, it will generate a series of files. After opening a Haptek htr go to Program files, Haptek, player, hap temp and copy all of the files and put them in another folder.
Basicly I've copied the heading from body_femaleStsrtup.hap which you can open with notepad or wordpad. The next line in the New.htr loads body_female.htr,and line 2 loads Newstart.hap which changes the characters skin. All of the uncompressed files can be opened, and the majority can be easily understood, its just a matter of switchng to uncompressed files that can be modified.
