Error message when starting Hal Assistant 6.0

I am new to AI (but excited to learn!). I purchased and downloaded Hal 6.0 and was fine for awhile. Now, when I open it, I get the following error message: Ultra Hal Assistant Error - Invalid procedure call or argument occurred at Line 1 in Ultra Hal Assistant: FirmAss.Load SR
 
 I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but still get the error message. I can click Ignore and still use it, but it is EXTREMELY slow and many times does not recognize I am speaking at all (although the microphone is on). I am assuming this is all related, but who knows, it may not be.
 
 Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only version of Hal that you can use the microphone with is the paid version. As far as being slow that depends on the speed of your computer and how many other programs are running in the background.
I have a 2.8 Gigahertz PC and Hal runs fast. It takes less than one second for it to reply to my input.
