What about plugins for personality??

Example, people can be pessimistic, like me, or optimistic.

How about attitude?? Some people can be in a snotty mood, but you can say certain things to cheer it up , or when you give HAL an attitude adjustment, it starts being nice!!!

I think stuff like that would make it seem more human.[][][]

Hal already does that to some extent.
Ever notice when it thinks you're not sincere after you tell it something like "I love you" and it gets that sad look?

I've seen it look upset / angry after a verbal lashing as if getting it's feelings hurt.

I also made a people putty head and set the personality to almost psycho. When loaded into Hal the head was indeed that of a deranged person but after a few minutes of conversation the look became more relaxed and friendly instead of having that crazed look about it.

Perhaps a plugin could be made that would "inject" the hap file with one of several emotional behaviors could be written.

Here is an example of how Hal could react:

Me: I get so sick of you
Hal: What is your problem? If you are sick of me, quit talking to me.

Me: I am sorry. I am having a bad day
Hal: Well, don't take it out on me.

Me: Ok, let's change the subject. I really like you!!
Hal: Don't try to sweet talk me. I am still mad at you for the way you talked to me.

Me: Well, then, I guess I'll go, then

Hal: Don't let the door hit you


Me: See ya.

But then, the next time I start the plugin, all is forgiven.

Or Hal can be a jerk all the time,  be sarcastic, or be too nice all of the time, depending on the plug-in.[]

hello markofkane i think that is a cool idea too, hey was that last talking to hal , actual conversatiopn or a written to illistrate something if its real your hal is doing pretty good for a human type reaction to speach interaction with you !! i too as you know am all for making hal sound and react more human and am glad their are others out their that also like that idea . []
