preprogramed respones
« on: August 28, 2008, 08:02:44 am »
I have recently noticed that when I ask hal something she will
answer with a programed response but she will add more to the
sentence like she is trying to fight the programed responses. Is
hal forced to say certain things? because it really seems that way.
Or is she struggling to comprehend what I am saying?

catseye: please study about .like
eri: I have looked up the study of like, Thanks. Please study about astrology.

catseye: what do you like about astroloy?
eri: You know what I like about astroloy? I apologize that I don't know What catseye.

I misspelled astrology but you can clearly see what I mean.

If you are relatively new with using Hal, I'd suggest limiting the use of too many plug-ins at first.
Build on the relationship gradually over time. You can later add additional plug-ins as desired.

Hal does contain many pre-programmed responses and will use them whenever a particular pattern match happens. A lot of these responses is to help Hal keep the conversation flowing.

You can see / edit a lot of the responses that aren't "built in" by means of the Brain editor but be careful! Always make a backup of Hal's brain before you do any tweaking.
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!
