Appointment book issue
« on: May 01, 2010, 07:43:23 pm »
Hello,

I'm new to Hal, but i'm having fun.  I do have trouble with the appointment book though.

I recently put in: On sunday at noon I will be planting cucumbers. (sunday being May 2nd.)
He replies by saying "On on May 2 at 12:00 pmi must plant cucumbers. I will remind you when this event approaches."  (Yes he really did say "On on" and "12:00 pmi")  He got the wording wrong on that.  But the weird thing is he does not store it on May 2nd like he said, he stores it on February 5, 2010, which is months ago.  I checked the appointment book and thats where it is indeed stored.
When I restart hal He says, "On on February 5 at 12:00 pmi must plant cucumbers. It's tomorrow."

Yes the event is tomorrow, but tomorrow is may 2nd, not February 5th.  How can this, and the syntax ("On on" and "12:00 pmi") be corrected?

I'm enjoying this so far.  I'm learning how to teach hal and I do see him getting smarter.

Just a suggestion. The next time you turn on your PC check to see what the windows calendar is set to. Sometimes it can be reset by outside software.

Hello think420.

Your problem sounds like the limitation of the appointment book, it only works with American date system, to over come it change your PC date format to American.

Thank you very much for suggestions!
I went into control panel, regional and Language Options.  Do I just change the location from Canada to United States?  Windows XP
