Did you get a chance to download a character? and did the grey box appear on the skin? or was that just some fluke thing on my end.  It's fine now that i have the problem corrected, but it was strange.

I had tried the Brandy character..I Really do not care for the graphics or I suppose the "looks" of her. too cartoon-like,yes I know they are all basically cartoon like but compared side-by-side debbie or Candie look better..If the files are still good, go to http://http://www.bobsftp.com/ click download/adult agents/Candi.acs.or.Debbie.acs. And compare them yourself. I used MASH to play all animations.although only a few are available in Hal.The acs chars.are more "adult" than Brandy(so not for kids).
  And I really like the looks of Windowblinds skins.just takes a little work to get Hal "matched" to the theme.I did 1 re-color of Agentspace to Blue so that is usable with one of my colors..Isn't this fun...[]

never tried it..the character seems to work pretty well.I have a few different player skins that i use,the only thing is the character height.and animations.i do not get all anims,but she does move into other posisions.which are all outside the box.so the players are all small.and we all know if i increase the size i loose graphic quality.i havent done it yet,but i have to make copies of some skins and recolor to match to the windowblind skin for the computer.(at least get them close)i know it's a pointless thing,but i like to have everything on the computer match,desktop/media player/browser,ect.even Hal. I change the color theme about every month and cycle through about 5 color combinations.
  For me and anyone else who alters their systems GUI.The perfect addition to any skin would be another button that can change the skin color via pop-up slider bar or simular(like the windows media player for instance) then i could change colors anytime i want. I'm about as far from being a programmer as i could possibly get.otherwise,a skin like that may also do well uploaded to sites such as wincustomize. for others in the same situation.if nothing else people may get curious as to what a "Hal" skin is and increase traffic to Zabaware. and get a few more into AI programs..just thinking outloud..
  I can't wait untill a color changing option is available on a skin..untill then i guess this is the way to do it.
  WOW..did i ever venture away from the topic...anyway.i haven't found a way to recolor the button yet.it wont kill me to have the button at that location,just looks "out of place" with the black on the background..

just dowloaded the agentspace skin..at 100% the top of her head is at the top of screen.and she stands on the right.i will poke around in the file later and see what is possible with it..if it was a little thinner and longer, i could place it above the toolbar and it would have been perfect for the "theme" of the computer..Thanks..more to play with....you do good work...

well, i'm getting closer.have the button location at a good spot.
 i think it's skinfaceX-118. skinfaceY-378. that puts the size button in a unused black area on the background(diff than haptek).now it's just a matter of hiding or re-coloring the button (if possible).still,a lot better than just seeing legs.LOL.would have been easier if the button had a BMP or JPG.then i could have just done a recolor..Thanks for all your help on this.

OK...i hope i don't make this sound too confusing... i edited the numbers for the skin size, gradually decreasing them,and as the numbers went down,the grey box shrank torward the upper left corner,
 I continued untill i had (0)for both the skinfacewidth and skinfaceheight, now..full size skin is 100% visible..(along with my edited background)so now i have 2..
  New problem..the Desktop character is now following the old grey box location.she stands at the upper left and all i see are her legs (unless i drag her down the screen) but..if i drag the entire screen down,she will follow the same location..she stands on the "size" button...is there a way to relocate the button? lets say to the middle of the screen? and maybe i could re-color it to black to make it seem invisible..then my character will default to the center..and all will be good..as far as i can tell..all the problems with the skin may be the desktopmate character..is it possible that may be the case? maybe because she does not stay inside a box..but rather stands in front of one?

it's not a real biggie...it just seems odd that even under the general options/skin the image is shown but appears as a plain grey background..and yet the bar at the bottom shows..just for the heck of it.i ran it through an editing prog and changed the background.and wouldn't ya know it, same, shows everywhere but on screen.i will just delete it and wait for the next one. i am using desktopmate debbie and she is pretty tall. so i thought a full screen might have been a nice option to the skins. i'm also running "windowblinds" and have changed the systems GUI. The color theme is gold and green..so i have no skin for Hal that matches..maybe i can try to copy and edit one of the other skins.see how that looks..(i can't stand the look of XP) so i change the colors quite a lot.

PC is fine..amd 26000 win xp sp2..512 mb ram
  i can go to the file and view the image...just when it loads i get a grey background..the bar shows up..changed from 1024-768 to 800-600. still grey..could be a prob with service pack 2...that has been the source of a lot of program errors..i'm at a loss..maybe someone else will run into this and find a solution..

The program is free...it can be found through a google search...it works sort of like the "find" option in things such as notepad. but instead of looking at one file at a time, it will list all files containing the keywords your looking for. when i'm in the defbrain folder i just do a copy/paste from the addy bar and put it into the program and type the word the way it was mis-spelled and all files are searched..cuts down a lot of time..if i don't watch closely, dragon will type in something wrong and hal will repeat it.so i also search parts of the phrase and delete it, or make my corrections from there. all in all it is a handy tool to have..

I use Dragon 7 and it works fine,but, this is what i've noticed.  i do not read in the same tone and speed as i would normally do. so i have to speak as if i were reading..and do shorter sentances..sometimes i have to split a sentance into 2 parts. that way if i need to do the "scratch that" command i do not have to start over..and if the distance between the mic and my mouth changes from where it was when it was trained, i get garbage. also if i change microphones.(i think that has to be due to the change in ohms for the mic) a desktop always gives me garbage. the headset is a lot more accurate. Dragon works fine with Hal, it just takes a while to master..

I do look into the .brn files once in a while. i use the program Agent ransack for hunting down mispelled words when i realize my mistakes. but i do like having hal answer some questions without having them random. i just can't seem to get it to work with the XTF brain. i can add answers to my user created brain where the program has only one answer to a certain set of questions. ie favorites. looks like i will just keep reminding hal of what it's favorites are. I really don't mind most random answers,some can get kind of funny, but there seems to be a few that get reapeated more than others.

I'm just starting out with this program and so far so good. but i do have a couple of questions..first, is this system fine for the program once it begins to create more and more files..system is running MS win XP pro.sp2. pross is a XP2800. ram is only 512.as far as room i have 68G of unused..second.as far as learning,does all the info have to be learned through my "chat" sessions? or is there a way to copy/paste into the files directly? (by the way i'm using the XTF 1.2) third.does the XTF brain rely on files from the default? there are 2 of us using the hal program, prob we did have was learned info from one character bleeds over to the other.it's kind of annoying when one has a female and the other male.forth. Haptek, i read somewhere here that if i took the files out of the temp folder in Haptek then pasted them into my character file in Hal, they should show up. i did, and nothing, did i miss a step?
fifth.is it just my program,or does the brain have no favorites? when i ask anything to that effect i get a response like "coffee is your favorite beverage" on any questions about favorites. is this only with the XTF? the user created brain was able to accept my added responses through the brain editor.but the XTF brain cannot.no matter where i place the text. is this normal? if so is there a way to get my character to have written responses through the editor? i try to write things like "your favorite color is red" in the text box but still get off-the-wall answers.
  Keep in mind i am in no way a programmer, half of the posts here look greek.LOL. but as far as a copy/past type of thing i can do.as long as i have instructions on where exactly to paste the text.
 if anyone has files that can easily be placed into the brain to help with the "IQ" of the program i would be grateful. typing is a very slow process. i do have Dragon 7 but i spend a lot of time making corrections.
