Ultra Hal 7.0 / Zabaware 3D Character Engine released under GPL3
« on: April 13, 2010, 11:17:30 am »
From a pure graphic design model standpoint, the original, Amy, really does have the best design (hence her pricepoint). The skin texturing and detail is really top notch. IMO the others are all a tad on the 'smooth eye candy' side and while they are very soft and might be considered 'more attractive' they don't have the detail.

LS: Haptek is a completely seperate engine on its own and People Putty runs on that engine. This would likely be a choice between using the new custom character the way it is animated and built, and the haptek characters. Its like asking if MSagents can be manipulated in Haptek..they are two totally different programs.
Also the Amber character you linked doesnt have animation ability..she does look good though!

Robert correct me if I am wrong..:)

256 mg of ram? I have 3 gig on this machine and it can still get bogged down from time to time..Again check the misc data section of the brain and be sure the tables and parameters were created.

On a side note:
OTCE and Bill....the weather plugin is so darn smooth..would it be difficult to modify this so a sports plugin could answer "who won the " " game today? just a thought..

More than likely this is just a memory issue as scripts can hang from time to time.  I would make sure that all the correct hap files mp3 files etc are all in the correct locations. Also go to the brain editor and check to see if the parameter is loaded in the brain under MISCdata.

If it helps to commit to a "character add on" in order to determine
whether to pull the trigger on the model then put me down.
I'd say if 15 of us can commit to a $25-35$ tag initially, it would take the sting out of the customizing costs.

WOW, that is pretty impressive! Have you seen her in action in any way? If there were a way to purchase some basic control features I would run with that one!

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Goal/Task Tracker
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:50:29 pm »
Thanks for the feedback Darcy..It does seem like this would be a hybrid of appt and maybe the "did you know" plugin. A table stores the goals and tasks and deletes them when hal receives a response that matches the "delete from table" command. A "curious" type of script would pop up and chime in about the tasks and goals and respond accordingly. I may attempt a very simple version at first in order to see if this is feasible. ---stay tuned--

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Goal/Task Tracker
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:54:21 pm »
Ok so..I decided to tackle this project on my own by using some other scripts and the very basic programming knowledge that I have..
(what would drive me to melt my brain away on this I have no idea...but I digress). Some help from the Snowman-OTCE-LS etc crew on a few things would really speed this up PLZ.

1-a script similar to the appt book that creates a table that stores the goals, tasks etc and then subtracts them when they are completed. (A more advanced stage where they are moved to another table called 'completed' could really help Hal learn from this historical data)
EX: The appts script tables etc can be modified
If TaskCompleted = True Then
Select Case RemindRepeat
Case 1 'One time task
HalBrain.RunQuery "DELETE FROM TaskList WHERE recordId = " & TaskRecord, TempQuery
Reminder = Reminder & "This task has been completed..great job! "
End Select
If RemindRepeat > 0 And RemindRepeat < 6 Then
InvCount = 0
Do
yadayada

2-a solution to the possible problems that may occur with auto idle scripts running at the same time.

By combining a similar script as 'Curious' with the 'Did you know'
type of script I think this may work but some help on the 2 things above would speed up the process..

Ultra Hal 7.0 / problem with hap files in Hal
« on: April 05, 2010, 09:39:21 am »
Yeah read all the changes...very professional! One would have thought the project was legit until dirty laundry got sprawled accross the front page. I am thinking that Rich has decided that
a ridiculous personal feud is more important then helping other.
Sad really..

"And we already made webcam eye tracking software that works with Hal & Haptek, but we made it all with our own stuff and not the thing that you're probably familiar with. God forbid we should take someone else's thing from this forum and make it better for them for free like we did with the entire Ultra Hal and Haptek software programs."

Pulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeez share or offer up as a plugin for sale! I hate to jump in the middle as I am not privy to the details about this ongoing conflict..but progressing the technology is really what is important. (And of course the proper credit, be it financial or promotion). The Amanda Interactive project
has some great features but many of us want some 'less cerebral' insight on the project and its workings so we can utilize it.

The hap files you made in the dance folder were great Rich. I did
have some trouble getting some of them to work when triggered from a response..I wonder if the alien2.bvh has something to do with it.
You should take the webcam plugin and get the eye tracking to work with it! I am not sure why the downloads on your site are disabled, there are plenty of people who appreciate all the fine work you have done!

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / HapSwap 2.0
« on: April 03, 2010, 11:51:47 pm »
Ok here are two that I did that might be good. Script is a little
sloppy but they both seem to work for me. I added a "go to sleep"
hap so that nightynight.hap gets called and "wake up" which calls wakeup.hap.

Yeah, there is also a response in Feb that has a Jan response instead..I left it in as I wasn't sure if it was intentional, if not it needs to be changed to February. Get crackin on that sleep hap, I know you can bust that out in 5 min !!! lol

Yep I use it..I have been having issues working with some custom haps I made but I'll figure it out eventually. Any chance you have a good sleep hap that differs from the sleep mood haps out there?
I am looking for one that makes her look like shes sleeping while standing up not laying down (I made a 'lay down' hap but it doesnt look great if I tell her to sleep with an incompatible background.)
Thanks again for all the great scripting!
