Ultra Hal 7.0 / Teaching Hal from Text
« on: March 02, 2004, 04:08:04 pm »
Is there a way to make Hal read from several text files in succession of one another?  I don't know about anyone else, but I don't really have the time to sit down and feed him text file after text file.  It'd be nice if I could just set several text files (perhaps even entire folders) for reading and let it do its job.  Is this at all possible?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal and Alice
« on: March 01, 2004, 07:57:45 pm »
Hello,
I'm using an XP Pro machine, and I have Hal 5.0 installed on my machine.  I installed Alice without a hitch, and I selected the brain as was dictated by the readme.  However, when Hal is on the Alice brain, I get no response.  I will type message after message and Hal will just sit there.  Could someone please help me with this dilemma?  Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Ryuhoshi

Hi, I just installed the new 5.0 version, and it's great, but I'm having some problems. First, is there a way I can either make Hal check my email on command or at least increase the frequency that Hal checks my POP3 account (maybe even both?). I'm not even a novice of a programmer, so please forgive me for asking for a copy&paste handout. The next thing is, I have a friend who goes by the alias "Zero" and so I entered in his email address under the name "Zero." Whenever I say "Email Zero." though, Hal takes it as an statement, and when I say it various other ways (email zero, Email Zero, email zero., etc.) Hal just complains that I'm repeating myself. I've tried saying something else in between to get Hal out of that mode, but when I say it again, Hal just gives me the definition of email. It's getting rather frustrating. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I said "Please email Zero" first, and so it associated the command with a sentence. But in that case, or any other case for that matter, I don't know what to do about it. I tried other names in my address book and it works fine, but not for Zero. Thanks :-)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Problem with scheduling
« on: October 10, 2003, 01:39:17 pm »
I have HAL on my computer here at school, and I told him that I have a biology class at 2 PM every friday.  He faithfully reminds me every friday, but he says exactly that "You have a biology class on every friday at 2."  This is a little annoying.  Also I have noticed that he has trouble differenciating parts of the thing to be reminded, and part of the sentence I use to tell him.  So, if you could fix that, it would be great.
