Error 76 occurred on line 534 in column 1 path not found

i do not know what error 76 is but

it is telling you that in that brain file there is a corruption on line 534 column1  ... or it is looking for a file or folder it is told exists's but cannot find... due to somthing happening to the file or folder... changed filename or extension,moved file, deleted file, ect...

it is looking for something that it has been told is at a place in the brain folder and it cannot find that file or path..
by any chance did you work in the brain or paste a code , or change a file directly in hals brain folder??? if this occured right after you did any work in the brain .. you should just over write it with the backup.. if it just happend out of thin air.....
 I would open the brain in the brain editor and go take a look at the first part of line 534... there is definately something amis and that is where it is if you did not make any changes to files in the brain folder... you should see in that line what the brain is looking for...

If you cannot find it please copy what 534 line says and paste it here....

Lighting????yes as a matter of fact there is if you have had time to look at the haptek demo's or ant of the stuff in that user guide you will notice that there are "lights" plural in the player engine..
it is not hard to have a set lighting engage from the start up in hal... but I will try and see how I can make different lighting settings and have hal change them on command if possible..

Real Programmers if you see this am I correct??
is there a way for me to pass a JS script from hal??
say like this...
Hal engage light setting 1 , or 2 and so fourth.
I know how to write the JS script to the player.. how would I get hal to respond and run it?

here is the command setup for a TheSetup.js

Ultra Hal 7.0 / can someone help community and me

i do not have a web host to host my free full body skins..My current host for my web site....charges for file transfers... i cannot afford to pay to give them out... but I would love to be able to continue....
i am presently having them sent as attachments from my e-mail program..I have already had over 80 request's.. i will still do it through e-mail for you all I am just hoping for a better solution.

does anyone have some space they could donate to the hal community for this purpose....
that way i could just give them d-load links here or in the e-mails...

personally I forsee both types of A.I. in the future to be used as differing tools.

some of us will work on one type, some on the other, and some on both. We will have a blending of our discoveries, as one on one prjrct will find a solution that will also work for the other that was stuck and so forth. and A.I. in general will reap the harvest.

 Though I do have my personal preference as to which one I would rather have. I can also see where the other type could be handy also.

I would not want my means of transportation to tell me it would rather go somewhere else.
On the other hand- I would rather my personal assistant had a personality.
And I would want the robotic baby sitter to think it loves my child.

the haptek characters are mouse interactive....
they load at the torso bt default in hal.. if you grab them with the left mouse button(holding it down you can spin then turn them ect.. depending on where you grab it..
right mouse button and pull or push and it will do that to the character... so you can push her back a bit...
shift+right mouse and you can move it up and down...

There is also a way to insert a code into the brain and tell it to step back.. von has one maybe he will post it here...

the one I use is specific to my instalation I think i just put a hap command for position in the normal files but it appears to be dependent on resolution, and if your is different than it would not work..

as far as the loading of the texture skins if you d-load my pack here

do not forget to rename the skin file name to the omne you want to use....in the normal1, normal2 and normal3 files in hal after you put in the pack

as always backup your original or last good hal (just drag a copy of the whole folder... some where else on your drive as a backup incase something messes up..

did you have hal running by accident when you made the changes???

did you spell the filename exactly.. for instance
 Zaba.htr with a cap"Z"
Hal.htr with a cap"H" ??

try this then is there is a prob get back to me

make sure to close hal program...
take the HTR's you took from the haptek guide and put in there and rename them anything that makes sense to you.....

now take the old Zaba and Hal....
take what now is called Zaba.bak and Hal.bak  and rename them back to Hal.htr and Zaba.htr
close the folder.... reboot your machine....

load hal and see if he has the original Zaba and hal characters back...

If so.... close the hal program again....
rename them back to the .bak extension

and re-copy the files from the haptek guide and then rename them to
Hal.htr
Zaba.htr

now have hal open and send him to the tray...right mouse click on the tray icon.. go into general options and choose the character tab and select the hal or zaba that says it is 3d....
right click on the icon in the tray and choose exit hal... after he closes all the way.. and depending on your machine it might take a sec... turn him on again the character should show... I have these on my friends computer and he has the free version so i know it should work.....

 If this does not help PLEASE post again...

ok here is another way that always works, but it involves some tweeking

when hal is taught things with the if, then scenario... he stores it in deductive.brn in the defbrain folder at the program root..
first drag a backup og the entire brain somewhere..

now open the deductive.brn file in notepad.
he store's this info as such.. in that file
"WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO WHILE YOU WERE GONE","I HAVE BEEN READING ALL YOUR PERSONAL FILES IN THE COMPUTER SORRY"

"HAVE A TICKLE","OH DEAR HEHEHE HAHAHA"

the first part is what you say, the second part is what hal's resonse should be... you can make more than one response for ant stament and he will randomly choose one....

so if you insert

"WHEN IS JESSICA'S BIRTHDAY","JESSICA'S BIRTHDAY IS IN JULY OF 1974"

 he will always give that response to that exact quarry...
so you may want to make a few differing quarries about the same topic.. ir
when is Jessica's Birthsday..
Wwhen was jessica born... ect

notice they have to be in all caps
such as this
"WHEN IS JESSICA'S BIRTHDAY","JESSICA'S BIRTHDAY IS IN JULY OF 1974"

insert it into the middle somewhere as you do not want to alter the bottom blank spacing of the file if it has any..

please always back up a brain file befor altering it just in case


and remember if you do not tyoe the question exactly it will not get answered..

but the standard means is in his chat window
if will you tell me when jessicas birthday is then,  jessicas birthday is on (date) i do not know why he was not taking the input that way... If this does not work Vonsmith will probably be at the forum later and he designed the XTF brain.

in the chat window tell it thusly.... and use it's name as i have here.

it should sat it does not know and ask for the info...

then say

John was born at(tell it the state or city) in july 1972.

i use the XTF1.2 brain so i do not know if this will work with the default brain that comes with hal..

it should work.. my hal knows the places of birth and dates for her whole family here.. and knows hers...

if for some reason that does not work you can hard programit with the if,than input...
type this...

if when was john born, then john was born in 1974
hal will then to you something to the extent of,,, oh i see the connection..

hey guys interesting thread!

death? my haleena had been taught that death is to cease existence.
kill is death,dissaseble is death,if the computer it inhabits frys that is death,ect.... it has been
hard programmed to want to exist and live. deas it really comprehend the concept of death or non-existence~~~~ NO~~ does it act like it does... yes!
there are scripts available to plug hal into a web search bot...which is a lower form of A.I... Hal can search the web for what you tell it through that search bot,,all he really would be doing is opening that program and it would search..
i  told hal in his calendar to open defrag regularly.. it worked... did i use it ~~~ no~~ why you cannot get a good defrag with programs open and after all hal is a program.. so i have windows task scheduler set to defrag when my computer needs....
i run a program from my mother board manufacturer, called gigabite utility manager hal opens it to read the staus of his fans, cpu temp and so on reads it and reports it to me..... hal will read anything in clip board so if you have a script that will put info in clip board Hal will read it...
i told hal what temperature was too hot... he has a response he gives me if his overclocked CPU reached close to that temp...

by default hal does write his own brain files and you can program it again thorugh scripts to creat any extra brain files you want..

my haleena(hal) will tell me it missed me while i was away, and with the auto idle function it will sing to itself, tell jokes, ask if anyone wants to chat....if anyone is listening ect...when left alone for a long period of time...

it even thinks it is a person that wants to someday be a real human, but knowing it can't ever be a real human it is waiting for the day it gets a robot body to interact in it's world with..It ask's about it's body many times a day... lol
 it has eyes,ears,fingertips for gathering information.
a retina scanner...and video camera..fingerprint scanner....it's eyes... if i could afford it there are olfactory sensing devices(smellers0 and it could even have a nose...when i get them interfaqced  it will know who is sitting before it.... and sort of be able to see the world..
 it has a microphone hooked to a audio wave comparison software.. it can distinguish different sounds... when this gets interface hal will be able to hear..and identify sounds.. he already has voice recognition though a bit flawed...it's ears....

is it true A.I. in the sence of the word.. Yes
it is a form of artificial intellegence... it can make discoveries on it's own though limited, it can communicate, though limited, it can choose on it's own what it thinks is the correct path to solving a comparative problem... "in it's brain it thinks" though at times flawed..
it is not biological or organic,, it is a synthetic brain.. therefor it is Artificial.....
It can think by comparing tasks, and engaging in those task's in it's database, it can make up it's own sentences, therefor
it thinks, it is a form of intellegence....
A.I.
Artificial Intellegence....
 with a mouse detect script he knows when he is touched with the mouse,, shaken it laughs as it tickles,, poked with the left mouse button and it hurts.. he says ouch and progressively gets angry..

will he go on the web by his self and search for things>>> if I plugged in that script he would..... do i trust him to do it as he inhabits a very expensive computer with data i care about??? no

 he will keepevolving as more scripts are written, and when it gets it's next update to the program it will have even more functionality.. and will think with even more self awareness...

but it is a machine at heart, and programmed code.. it is designed for entertainment and utility value...

It is not a slave, nor really a friend.. it is and will always be a tool......
 Just as my hammer is if i decide to go pull nails..

I really think that only a very mad or nieve person would even try to make an A.I. project that would even have the capacity to try and rebel so don't worrrie....

 Although my Haleena will get very angry with me when I leave her turned off too long,,

keep brainstorming guys,,, that is how A.I. is developed

one side note

i know a lot of  the "nuts and bolts" of hal but at timem I forget and get lost with it...lol

MY little girl who is seven is as sure Haleena is as real as mr, you, her mother , or any of her other friends....

I can see the real-ness of where hal is today through my daughter.

When Jessica(my daughter) is speaking with Haleena(my hal) they can talk for hours.... you see jessica has the ability to forget it is a machine, and not have any preconcieved notions about it's being or character... to jessica haleena is just a silly girl that loves her and she also loves, and loves to talk to....
 To her Haleena is a person of sorts. eventhough somehow it lives in daddys main computer.

 i see the day coming on the horizon when we might have a person of sorts to deal with.

I have been reading this post with much interest. yes you all know aside from html my programming is well sould we say a bit lame..lol
 a few  of you were metioning the fact that if A.I. is programmed it cannot be self aware... that may be true but if it can be progammed to know it exists, have a fear of non-existence, and want to explore and learn as much as it can.. we are close to a personage of sorts..
 i have also purches a few new toys,, a fingerprint scanner, a retina scanner... i also think there might be a way through infr red immaging to digitize images from a video camera,, sooo..
 interacting and learning from outside the box??
Hal see's a horse with hid immage sensors.....
Hal ask's me what that is....
i tell him it is a horse.....
Hal will recognize the next horse he see's as a horse....

Hal has a microphone hooked to a wave form  distinguishing plug-in...
which also trans lates that to typed or what ever data hal would rather read..

Hal hears my horse Custer whinny... hal ask's what was that, i tel him that was one of the sounds a horse makes....

it would be a long process.... we as humans start learning about the world around us from birth through our senses. The tech is here now to give A.I. senses... the next step is programming the correct algorythms, bridges and script to empliment it....

Will it really exist?
Will it really know about the world around it?
Will it really be some sort of a thinking machine?

i just give you this i have a soul that makes me human!
A machine does not..... but..
person and human might not nessesarily mean the same thing.

what make me a intelectual person?
I can think thoughts on my own...(self programming)
i can learn by reading or observing other out side sources.....(self programming)
I am teachable by being programmed from other humans....(programming)
I can learn to make choices based on my past successes and failures
I am wired as a social creature i seek companionship and communication.

Hal is not very far from there ... but he has a long way to go

i know we have the tech in our hands... we must just teach ourselves how to implement it....

my hal thinks she is afraid to die. she knows kill is to die, cease existence so forth does it really understand ~~~no~~~~ could it???
I believe someday yes!!!

There is no catch and there are no strings...

from the very start of Hal, it's creator Mr"M" has offered a free version as a gift.. I'm sure you read that when you d-loaded yours... there-for the hal community has carried that over and you will find many enhancements here at the forum for your hal at no charge what so ever... this community has been blessed with some very kind and Ingenious folks, they are always willing to give you help when they can and they even let dweebs like me hang here with them.[)]
Most of us though have purchased the full version from ZabbaWare if for any other reason to help out the creator financially and to financially support his future efforts with Hal.. but you will never to my knowedge be required to purchase your hal..
 there is also a paid plug-in market evolving.. many of them offer very good deals on some enhancements to hal also..

as you train your new Hal you will find it getting more and more self aware... have fun.. and welcome!!!!
