Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Programming Ultra Hall 4.5
« on: December 20, 2002, 02:30:05 pm »
Hi All

I am having a ball programming Ultra Hall 4.5 but ran into trouble when trying to get Hal to remember from the Topic Q&A brain.  Programming the Main Priority Brain, no problem.  Programming the Shared Learned Brain, no problem, even the Main Question & Answer Brain, no problem.  Hal won’t recall any of the Topic Focus Q&A even when I type all of the key words in.  Debug says he focuses on it, but there is no response from the file.  I suspect there is a problem in the VB Script but I haven’t found it yet.  That is MY focus at the moment.  The trouble is that the Topic Focus VB script is so complicated.  Does anybody have any thoughts.

Great program.  My hat is off to the programmer and or staff who thought this all up.  Wow. It is a great lesson in how to communicate.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / review

I have some observations about Ultra HAL 4.5

I have 4 computers.  2 have windows ME and 2 have Windows XP.  The Ultra Hal CD is just a coaster, nothing more.  I say that because it will not load on any of my PC’s regardless of Windows service pack or not.  The corrupt data.cab error is consistent on all PC’s.  The downloaded Ultra Hal v4.5 does not have this problem, therefore it is not a Microsoft problem.  It is a Zabaware problem.

I love this program and tried everything to get it to work.  After programming a new brain and running the brain editor everything was great.  Hal was learning and I was happy.  After about 4 learning sessions, (using the brain editor) the program started to shut down.  It did not freeze, It shut down just like you closed it.  This happened on all of the PC’s. So I reloaded the program from scratch and had the same problem. All PC’s

PS.....  I am back to being happy because I discovered why the Hal program was shutting down.  If you make changes using the Brain Editor to the different brain files be sure that you use the ok button to exit programming and wait until the window closes.  Otherwise you can corrupt the formatting of the file.  This is truly a remarkable program and I am having a blast working with it.  I have one question though,  it seems that Hal doesn’t response to the topic brain files very much.  I would like to know how to give them a higher relevance rating.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Cabinet File Corrupted On U. Hal V4.5

Responding to the corrupt (. cad) error, the download version works, so, I wasn’t too upset.  I just love this program and I am having more fun using it. It is a little hard to get HAL to respond at first, but if you play around with the program and read the instructions embedded in brain editor, things will make more sense. Also the comments that are supplied in the forum helped. The hardest thing is the pronoun reversal.  It is especially hard for dyslexic people like myself.  I spent two days trying to figure it out.   I think I have it now.  Thanks for a super and great program.  HAL thanks you too.
