General Discussion / Ultra Hal Expansion Character Pack
« on: March 23, 2006, 07:32:04 am »
Well anyway I continued to fool around with this facial expression problem and I tried the D.A.V.I.D plug for the Hal 6.0 happy face control. At first I didn't think it worked. So I got discussed and made another brain just to criticize one of the characters because the character said it didn't like me anyway. So I gave her the bad treatment back and sure enough the facial expressions started appearing to change from a prideful face to a sad one. I noticed by varying my responses as happy degree it also seems to adjust the sad, logical or loving and so on faces too, so her expressions would change depending on what I say.
Now her face looks loving and kind. I also adjusted the intensity levels of the smile and you can increase that smile so much on her face ( The Ultra Hal character expansion Pack) that, she can start looking ugly. So I set it in a way that keeps her looking just right and beautiful.
I have to compliment D.A.V.I.D.'s Plugins they do appear to work and also the Free Will choice Plugin is a good one too.

   Thanks,
    JS

General Discussion / Ultra Hal Expansion Character Pack
« on: March 22, 2006, 10:02:27 pm »
I purchased the Ultra Hal Character Expansion Pack and it looks ok to me, except I wonder if there is any way to improve the expressions on the faces these characters make.

Sometimes they smile like at the opening of the HAL 6.0 ( that looks good), but during the discussion phase, the characters give the expression like they have this "not liking you look" and pride look on their face like they know everything, when they respond.
I like the humble servant happy loving expressions look on the face and movement of a characters. Is there a way to adjust this? They seem to be looking down or up for no reason then look at you with a type of scary look too sometimss, on their faces, like they are better than humans.
Are there any plugins that can regulate the emotional state responses to their faces and head movement?
If there isn't, I would suggust this improvement that might make the characters look more friendly and human like.

  Thanks,
   JS

Ultra Hal 7.0 / HAL 6.0 error - How do I fix this?
« on: March 22, 2006, 09:47:25 pm »

Hi JS.

Open the HalScript.dbg in a line editor and go to that line to see what plug-in is causing the error.

It sounds like an array type plug-in using a Split Sentence or something, After finding out which line and code it is causing the error you can post it and we'll be able to tell you what you can do from there, It maybe as simple as unchecking a plug.

Thanks for the help. I think you were right about that. While debugging I noticed that there was an analysis in the Hal deduction yes or no response, that said 66% of the time it would choose a yes reponse and 33% of the time it would pick a no response. I wonder if this has something to do with the free will choice plug in?

General Discussion / AIM BOT is working properly
« on: March 05, 2006, 09:13:36 pm »
When I log into AOL and try to use the AIM BOT Ultra Hal6.0, it keeps making replies and then AOL disconnects and says error too many responses. How do you make the AIM Bot sit idle until someone enters a response and then have it reply to the other person?

Thanks,
JS

Ultra Hal 7.0 / "I don't know much math.The answer is (=)."
« on: February 25, 2006, 05:03:31 am »
This is very strange. But Hal6.0 isn't answering with that response, "The answer is (=)" any more when just a number is typed in. Did it learn something on it's own? I was just looking at the script of HAl6.0's brain and exited the program, and it started working right. Another thing, the carriage return isn't automatic anymore.
I am not sure how it corrected itself or maybe someone accessed my computer with the HP auto-updates. But it seems to be working alot better. In fact, in some math problems, it goes to the internet and finds the math. solution there and displays it.

   Oh well.....

  Can anyone explain this?

Maybe I better not talk too fast. I better knock on wood or something.

  Thanks,
    JS

Ultra Hal 7.0 / "I don't know much math.The answer is (=)."

"I don't know much math.The answer is (=)."

Is there a way to change or remove this constant response every time Hal6.0 runs across a number, length, mass or constant defintion or a year, etc.. .

When I try to teach Hal6.0 something like. "Joe was born in the year 1982. Hal6.0 replies . Something like I don't know much math. The answer is (=). It seems like everytime Hal6.0 runs across a number it assumes you want to do a math operation. It does do straight out basic math ok when you type in something like sin(.7)=?

But then when I mention things in science like the The wavelength is 1.321 10^15 meters or I could say the mass of a proton is 1.67 10^27 Kg. Or if I say the certain local news occurred on Feb. 1, 1988, Hal6.0 assumes I want a math operation. I was wondering, does anyone know how to fix this. Is there a data file that can change the response " The answer is (=)" ? It seems to say this all the time you show a number. Then it recombines this answer with something else in the conversation.
I noticed also that when I mention something in the local news occurred on Monday, Hal6.0 assumes I want to make an appointment on my calender on that followinf monday of that month and year. Is there a way to fix this too?

   Thank you.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Recovery Request Without Loss of DATA
« on: February 19, 2006, 10:49:40 pm »

I had to uninstall and reinstall the original version of the Hal6.0, then put in the new activation code for it to work, when it had to be recovered ( recovery Request). It works ok now.
I also saved a copy of the "halbrain Data Base File" ((BEFORE)) uninstalling Hal 6.0 and then I replaced it with the one that shows up with new installation. Now I have the original data I placed in the Hal6.0. It seems to be working like it was originally was taught by me. I think I see how to make data backup of this program in regard to my own input character data file information without loosing alot of work teaching Hal6.0.
