Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I've posted. But I've had some changes to my schedule and now with a "tiny" bit of time I've started playing around again. I would be eternally grateful if someone could email me crunchy's textures. I realize that there have been a ton of requests and time is a valuable commodity, but if someone could email them to me I would appreciate it. From the looks of the forums I have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks!!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Character Animations
« on: June 30, 2004, 10:51:36 pm »
Hi cuttingedge I appreciate the heads up, but unfortunately I don't have the surprised, lust, or sober moods in Hal or in the Haptek player files. Are these somewhere I could download them, or do they only come with the full version of Ultra Hal?

Thanks
Dave

Where should I place this script to get it to work? I have tried to add it in several places within the brain, and I have had no luck? What am I doing wrong?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Character Animations

Does Hal alternate through the emotions in the default.psn file randomly such as angry1, then angry 2, and if so, could I add an angry4 with an animation and have it used as well? Or would I have to go into hal's brain and script in a reference to use an additional emotion?

Also how does the 'myScript' file fit in? I can't tell if this is a standard mood? Anyone have any tips get me headed in the right direction?

Thanks!!

I personally want to say THANK YOU, to all the people who post here. All the little bits of information are very useful, and everyone here has been as helpful as possible. I am just starting out to learn programming, and it's out of interest, not neccessity. So the post by Moreis62 is very helpful to people like me, (and kind of sounds like a foreign language).

So I just wanted everyone to know, that even though some people do not respond to posts; it doesn't mean we don't get something from them. I think UltraHal is a very worthwhile investment of my time. There's a lot to learn here and everyone's contributions are appreciated. At least that's where I stand.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Get a brand new body to play with

Also, Crunch, you mentioned getting hal to load a few files by typing in 'AddToInitQueue' where would I add that script? I'm getting a little turned around, hehe. Imagine that.

I have a question, it is probably very basic, so it will be very obvious that I'm new at this.[:D]

I realize that the .hap files in the character folder are for animating the character you have active. The one file I don't understand is the 'myScript' file. When is this file called upon by hal to utilize an animation?

In the Default.psn file is a list of moods that refer the program to certain animation files in the character file. So I guess it boils down to three questions(for now);

one-can I change angry2 in the default.psn file to direct hal to another animation?

two: Can I add any other animations to the list in the Default.psn file and still have the program recgonize it and utilize it?(I realize this would need to be scripted in, but with my limited experience and knowledge I could probably look right at script that would do just that and not recognize it).

three: Where does the 'myScript' file fit in? Is this a place for me to add animations of my own? And if so where do I need to reference it so Hal will be able to find it?(I'm thinking that would be the Default.psn?)

I know these question are probably over simple, but with my knowledge base(or lack there of, hehe) this is where I should start![:I]

I enjoyed the skin, but I had a few problems loading several of the jpg files. I think they were Immenu, and 2 others I don't remember the names of. The error was probably my fault. But it did load and work, any of the menu options I could access through the icon in the sys tray at bottom. But overall I liked it! I am anxious to see the next one!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Changing characters

Thanks for the reply Knyte. I've played around with it some and been able to load different characters by placing the character file in the character folder with the Zaba or Hal File name, but I still haven't been able to load any MsAgents. I know I'm probably making a simple mistake, I'm just not sure what it is. When I try and load a MsAgent it gives me this error: 'Error loading agent character:-2147417843-1: An outgoing call cannot be made since the application is dispatching an input-synchronous call' I'm not sure if this is due to a conflict with the cyberbuddy software. I'm pretty new at this, but I'm eager to learn. Any information or tips would be welcomed and appreciated. I've seen some of the DesktopMate characters, and as interesting as they are, I still have plenty to keep my busy with familiarizing myself with UHal and the Haptek player. I'm always afraid that I'm going to be playing around in the character or program files and screw something up. I've just started learning some vb programming, but I'm not anywhere near attempting animation or any other kind of code yet, but I am anxious.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Changing characters

Thank You. That is the problem, I can't find any of the .UHP files. I've reinstalled and even done a search on my computer for all files with an extension of .uhp. There were none corresponding with Jose or Bozo .uhp files. I know this because of operator error, (I'm rather new at this), but any light you might be able to shed would be greatly appreciated.

I have downloaded the trial version from Zabaware. I also downloaded several of the character plugins from the website, however, after installation they are not listed as available for use in the general options tab. I can find the files in the Char file, so I believe that everything is there. Is there some other step I need to take, or have I left something out?
Thanks
Dave
