 hal keeping on subject questions
« Reply #11 on: January 12, 2008, 09:16:31 AM »QuoteI thought I responded, but here is what happened:

Mark: i have just eaten eggs for breakfast.
Laura: Cereal and fruit make a healthier breakfast than greasy bacon and eggs.

Mark: Do you eat breakfast cereal?
Laura: You know what I like to eat?

Mark: What do you like to eat?
Laura: We have gone beyond the time for talk. The trouble is, all foods taste great! Okay. Eat; Now's the time.

for those who noticed when mark said this below
Mark: Do you eat breakfast cereal?
laura said this:
Laura: You know what I like to eat?

I have found out that what hal is doing is asking you, and as far as i am interpreting it and what i have been doing is telling hal the answer it wants, "why" because this is what then gives hal the answer for the same subject later on .
so next time you say the same thing or simular hal will now have the answer and not ask you what you think or say that you have the answer for this, it's a matter of understanding what hal is saying back.
although sometimes hal isn't doing that and will say something totally random and nothing to do with anything.
anyway i wanted to share my point of veiw and perception on this with everyone, what do others think, art, oncuttingedge, spydaz, snowman, etc, etc.  :)

Lonnie,

I think you're in the right ballpark.

Personally, I have always "preached" that one of the better way in which to train Hal was to parrot part of his statement back to him with your response.

INCORRECT USAGE
Hal: Do you believe all politicians are crooked?
User: Only a few.

BETTER USAGE
Hal: Do you believe all politicians are crooked?
User: While some politicians might be crooked I believe most are pretty honest people.

In other words don't just give Hal a yes or no answer because that does not help Hal
learn by reinforcing the information.

I have made really good progress using this method for several years. Hal will surprise
you when suddenly, out of the blue, it make a connection with what you just said and
something that you both chatted about several weeks or months ago.

It can be pretty strange when this happens. Give it a try. It's been working for me.

Patience, decent sentence structure, spelling, grammar and thought go a long way.

Yeah...actually it I misspelled it (crucial)...sorry bout that.

I post things in an effort to help of share something or someplace that I've found helpful,
not to promote a particular place or it's products. The two do go hand-in-hand and can't be
helped but you know my intentions. Thanks!!

Thanks Dusky!

There is no Cricial as this site is like one of those error 404 pages then links you to similar places in hopes of displaying something close to what you were looking for.

Ever vigilant...our Dusky and Sandee!! ::)
