General Discussion / Trance.hap
« on: January 14, 2006, 11:01:04 am »
A Haptek character won't keep still until you feed it this trance.hap
So rename the file name extension from .txt-file to .hap

This hap contains a complete list of the switches that are inside the default Putty head and those inside the fullbody females. It makes use of a Haptek command that hasn't been explained before by Haptek nor documented by me. I just figured it out last week.
Here it is:

\setmood puts a switch to sleep which means that it will no longer effect the figure until the switch is set to "awake" again.

Syntax:

\setmood [figure= action= [sw= m=awake ]]
\setmood [figure= action= [sw= m=sleep ]]

sw= {switch}
m= {mode}

UNOFFICIAL HAPTEK HYPERTEXT GUIDE 1.5

Consider this the FINAL VERSION, unless something unexpected happens! I can't upload it to the Zabaware forums, because it's too large. You can find it on DG-forum in the "Help & Tutorials"-section. You have to register as well. Sorry for that!

http://72.240.116.125/dg/dgforum/index.php/topic,57.msg1424.html#msg1424

version 1.5

A completely rewritten guide after a lot of testing out of commands and queries.
Descriptions for parameters were sometimes dropped but usually greyed out when I couldn't get them to work.
Added a new page about the JavaScript functions inside HapPlayer411.js.

Pages added for "obsolete" commands that nevertheless work:
loadsound (for .ogg-sounds)
setcameraoffset (leads look of character away from camera)
setlookat (camera direction)
setlookfrom (camera location)
setmorph (triggers a morph)

Figured out now:
loadmorph (bind a morph to a switch)
\texcoords (triggers a special effect)

Do the following commandsqueries really work?
createscript
\bmmaskcopy
deletescript
\tare
\timer
renderer cap edgeantialias

Version 1.4

Pages changed:

\bmmaskcopy (added: "Does this command really work?")
key (re-discovered: assign a hotkey!)
keyframe, \rotatequat, \rotation, \translate: clarified the use of these commands further
q (added: "A message should be no more than 2048 characters long.")

current mouse pos (reformulated explanation)
current position (added reference to \translate)
current rotation (added reference to \rotatequat)
current transformation (added short comment from Haptek SDK)

Version 1.3

countless corrections and additions

Pages added:
Short explanation of Haptek commands
texture height (query)
texture name (query)
texture width (query)

Version 1.2

A lot of spelling mistakes corrected.

Pages changed:
@all commands
camera
\rendermode
setlight
setreg
setswitch
figures
moods
morphs

« on: July 10, 2005, 02:06:51 pm »
This is a help-document that shows some Haptek-commands for floating heads.

The pages in this help-file have the following names:

Eye blinks / Eyes Open - Close / Eyes tricks / Winks /
Head gestures / Head nods / Head shakes / Glances /
Kisses / Mouth positions / Say "Grr!" / Smirks / Yawns /
Flabbergasted / Moods / Morphs /
Enabling the debugger console /  Credits

The Haptek-commands are set in the following format:

Flabbergasted

be flabbergasted ON
setswitch [switch=stop state=stop]

be flabbergasted OFF
setswitch [switch=stop state=go]

These commands can be typed in at the Haptek debugger console or used in a script.

Speech Technology / Neospeech beeped words
« on: May 27, 2005, 05:06:19 am »
Owners of Neospeech voices may have noticed that Kate 16k and Paul beep out dirty words. Ask Hal to "define f uck" and you will hear what I mean.
This inconvenience can be solved by replacing the file "user_eng.dict". I found this solution at:

http://www.nextup.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=794

Drop the file in the following folders and let it overwrite the existing file with the same name:

C:\Program Files\Zabaware\HalReader\Kate\data-common\userdict

C:\Program Files\Zabaware\HalReader\Paul\data-common\userdict

Ultra Hal 7.0 / ABOUT ZABAWARE MOOD .HAP'S
« on: May 22, 2005, 08:54:54 am »
Right now I am studying the .hap-files that Hal uses.
These files are located in the folder "Zabaware/Ultra Hal Assistant 5.0/Characters".
I have transfered the settings in the .hap-files to the table below.

Please take specifically notice of the following values (grayed out):

Neutral / HighEnergyNoise: 0.20000
Neutral / browtalk: 0.70000

Sad / browtalk: 0.70000
Sad / visemes: 12800000

Are these values the result of typing mistakes made by Medeksza?

General Discussion / Difference between identical looking .htr's
« on: May 20, 2005, 09:27:27 am »
If you want to grab a haptar from a webpage, you either drag the .htr-file from the temporary folder of the Haptek player or get if from the cache-folder of your browser, right?

Well, I found out that there IS a different between those haptars  although they share the same name. You can check this out for yourself. I’ll give two examples:

Hal.htr
Size of “Hal.htr” as found in folder “Zabawarecharacters”: 277 KB
Size of file “Hal.htr” as found in folder  “Hap_temp”:1.109 KB

birthdaydemo.htr
Size of “birthdaydemo.htr” as found in folder “Temporary Internet Files”: 872 KB
Size of “birthdaydemo.htr” as found in folder “Hap_temp”: 2.700 KB

Those haptars with the same name but with different bytesizes look identical when you start them up. How is that possible? I have come to the conclusion that the smaller one’s are in fact COMPRESSED haptars. The compression of those haptars is done with the HapTargh-compressor as sold by Haptek. People Putty also uses this compressor to save haptars.

So, when you end up with two haptars that have the same name but with different bytesizes, then do not readily assume that the larger haptar is the better one. Perhaps you could better keep the small one and throw away the larger one.

BTW, check out  http://www.clone3d.com/birthday2.htm, if you haven’t done already.

Speech Technology / Haptek char. can lip-sync .ogg- file
« on: May 15, 2005, 07:56:26 am »
Something I found out. When you drop a soundfile with the .ogg-extension on a Haptek-window your player will not only produce the sound, but your Haptek-character will lip-sync automatically. Perhaps you can make a music videoclip that way or let Hal laugh out loud.

Try it yourself:

[edited may 28, 2005: Apparently this method doesn't work with normal .ogg-files. I seem to have made a mistake. Sorry [:I].

The size of this skin for Hal 5 is 1024x768. It will probably cover your whole desktop. If you need a skin like this, but your desktop has a different format then add your comment to this thread please.

Who would have guessed?

Yes, you can in fact get the Haptek debugger console while the Haptek-window in the same time is used by Ultra Hal. Normally this can't be done, but just put a text file with the following content in the root of your hard disk and name it: HapLogCtrl.txt

#################
## file begins here
# Haptek Logging Control File
#
# c:HapLogCtrl.txt
#
# This file must be in c: and named "HapLogCtrl.txt".
# Otherwise it is ignored.
#
#################

debugger= y

#################
# file ends here
##
#################

Now when you start Ultra Hal the Haptek console will pop up as well. You can use it to change the clothes of your character on-the-fly, if you like.
