can 2 computers talk to one another?
« on: March 15, 2010, 04:50:20 am »
Hi All,
I want to buy 2 licences/copies of ultrahal and load Hal on my desktop pc and on my notebook(which is on my robot)and have them chat to one another. They are both connected to the internet through a wireless connection.  Is it possible to do this, and how?
I think I got this working in the past, but I can't remember how to do it.
Thanks
Kevin

A few years back someone wrote an interface to allow Alice to talk to Hal and visa-sersa, so yes two  computers can talk to each otheror to put in the correct text two computer programs and talk to each other.

Yes I remember a few years back using aim or IRC(I think)to get two hal programs to converse, but then AIM did something to stop it from working if I remember correctly.  Maybe Jerry remembers it?
Thanks!
BTW Bill819 is your Er1 still functioning?
have a great week!

Yes, that is when AIM stopped using TOC 1 and started TOC 2 but Robert fixed the AIM bot to work with TOC 2 so we are good for that.

you can get two different brains to talk to each other by starting two different sessions of AIM bot using different brains if you like, you can even do it with more than two brains so long as it doesn't bog down your system.

the bots will have to have different screen names as AIM bots but that's a simple one to do.

I just signed on ziggyoracle for you. I usually use AZiggyBot because this bot has hundreds of buddies on its buddy list. if the bots drop offline it is because they either being updated with a plugin or the internet went down which happens a lot here is the Sierra's.
