Ultra Hal 7.0 / Removing balloon text
« on: April 27, 2007, 09:12:17 am »
Yes, as you probably realized, balloon text is the output that comes with the msagent's response.  You can usually turn it off in most applications that utilize the msagent.  But.... UH does not have the option or if it does, I couldn't find it.

I used Mash to turn it off but when running UH 6.138 it reappears.

I reinstalled a sapi4 from Acapela and voila ! It went away.

I had previously tried reinstalling sapi4 and sapi5 from MS and other sources and UH 6.1 but the balloon text remained.  Not until the installation of "Heather" from Acapela Group did it go away.

Anyway, thanks for your attention.

How do I remove the balloon text and not use it at all?

I use AgentBronze, a plugin from Desktopmates.

Thanks,

Speech Technology / License for Babel Infovox Heater
« on: January 09, 2005, 01:53:42 pm »
Yes, I have sent emails to Sweden, UK, and some distributors in the US, but no replies.  After reading all of the press releases, you would think a company such as that would provide better support services.  I think UltraHal should remove it from their site.  It was the reason I got involved to the extent that I did, the natural voice, that is.  I believe that Heather(22k) was the best that I had heard and now it is out of reach.  Oh well.

Speech Technology / License for Babel Infovox Heater

I have been searching the internet for a license for the Babel Infovox Heather(22k) voice.  But....haven't found anyone that sells it or otherwise has it.  Does anyone know where I can get one, my 30 day evaluation has run out.

Thanks,
Tom

Sounds great!  I look forward to using it.  Thanks a bunch.

I guess I should start moving toward Haptek, if I stick with Hal.  Are haptek characters detachable?

True, true. I wish I could get the look of Desktopmates in 3D with the AI of ultrahal and on a website without all of the downloads necessary at the present time.  Wishful thinking, huh.  I just find it so hard to believe that we don't have this technology right now and at an affordable price.  With all the advancements made it broadband, streaming media, java scripting, etc.  It seems that this niche would already be flooded with readily available code.

Oh well, if you hear of what I'm wishing for, please let me know.
Thanks,
Tom

Yeah, I saw those. The Desktopmates characters are MSAGENT characters as you probably already know.  So whatever script would be written would of course work for all msagent characters.  I guess ultrahal leans more to haptek than the default windows characters or msagents.  It's really sad that this is as true as it is.

Not exactly what I was looking for if I understand you correctly.  Using voice recognition with the mic on, I need to issue a command that will cause Hal to change msagent character.
Thanks,
Tom

I have two Desktopmates characters, one fully clothed and the other nude.  How would I switch characters based on a user's input?  Such as "take off your clothes" or "put on your clothes".  Resulting in switching from one character to the other.
Thanks,
Tom

Most of all be patient and have fun.

You are so right.  I've pretty much mastered the IF-Then.  It works very well for me. But,  the answer to Hal's question as to whether two things are related, needs a little clarification to me.  I very seldom answer that they are.  Such as "computer game" and "JOint Ops"  I answered no.  But Joint Ops is a computer game.  Or "favorite" and "Joint Ops" being related as it is his favorite computer game. I still answered no.

When should a person answer yes to the relationship question?  I know that some things are obvious but most are a little gray. So if they seem a little gray to me, I answer no.  I hope I haven't confused him.

I would be interested in learning these "special" teaching tools such as the "!" you mentioned above.  Are there more? And is there a way to insure that a particular question always gets the designated response?
Thanks,
Tom

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Using Hal with Teamspeak
« on: December 29, 2004, 10:31:26 pm »
I am using my Hal, named Mandy (desktopmates character) to Host and moderate my Teamspeak server.  My server is a clan based server that our squad uses (JointOps from Nova Logic).  She seems to want to respond to everything that everyone says though.  Is there a way to have her recognize that the conversation is directed to her? For example, Only respond if a speaker says "Mandy," first?

Yeah, at first I wasn't sure what I had or what I was dealing with.
