Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer Error 53
« on: December 12, 2005, 12:56:28 pm »
Good Day,
During installation of a different application (FTP Explorer app), the Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer is triggered and runs, "Installing Plugins..."; Then I get the Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer Error popup with the following:

Error 53: File not found Occured at line 8 in Ultral Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE, as RETRY presents the same popup, while ABORT closes the activity)
Error 52: Bad file name or number Occured at line 9 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE)
Error 52: Bad file name or number Occured at line 10 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE)
Error 52: Bad file name or number Occured at line 10 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE)
Error 52: Bad file name or number Occured at line 12 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE)
Error 5: Invalid procedure call or argument Occured at line 12 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE)
Error 5: Invalid procedure call or argument Occured at line 12 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load    (again)

(I press IGNORE)
Error 52: Bad file name or number Occured at line 22 in Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer:Form1.Form_Load

(I press IGNORE)
Activity closes. I'm looking back at my desktop.

So I looked in Windows (XP) Folder Options -> File Types for anuthing registered to Hal. I found 2x Haptek extensions, so I deleted them. The same senario above occurs, unchanged.

I then uninstalled Hal 6 from Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs area. The same senario above occured, unchanged.

So I rebooted (just incase). The Ultra Hal Plug-in Installer still ran (was Hal not properly uninstalled?)

Please assist... thanks!
Rick

Obviously there are still some registry entries out there. You might want to use a registry cleaner to get things sorted out.

There's one in the Norton Utilities (Symantec), RegClean, Registry Repair Pro and a few good free ones available as well.

If you know where the UltraHal plug-in installer is located you could try renaming the extension to maybe .xxx or something. Then try your FTP program install again.

It's always a good idea to backup your computer files before experimenting with the registry (or at least backup the registry files). Check to see if any Firewalls or Anti-virus software is turned off during the install (it sometimes helps if they are).

Good luck!
