Hal6cr brain editor
« on: November 06, 2005, 08:51:31 am »
I'm new to Hal 6. I never downloaded the beta copies.  Now that I have Hal6cr, I'm trying to figure out how to look at the brain.  I seems I have to register in order to do that.
My hal5 password doesn't work with hal6 so does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

tcoday,
Just recieved Hal6 on cd and put it in my newer computer, It's not online yet and I just found I can't transfer the number I recieved from Zabaware. I tried the brain editor, I was able to load the ver 6 brain but unable to see any of the tables, error message.

tcoday,
I just used the brain editor again, held my frist conversation with Hal in the brain editor, I went back to the tables and they are working. Looks like a nice interface.
I'm guessing a cr is a cd,  I have 30 days to get the activation code, I should guess you do also and your brain editor should work.
I double click the brain editor which loads the brain editor window, click file, open project, this opens a smaller window, select the Hal6 brain, open. The Test debug window opens and has to be minimized, then the script editor will show.  The brain editor opens in the read only mode so you shouldn't hurt anything.  Make a copy of the original brain before making changes.

The various stages of Hal's development were downloadable
as CR's (Character Release). Actually, there was the BETA,
ALPHA then CR's up until the final release was produced.

The brain editor is just that...the place where one can
edit or modify Hal's brain.

Talking, however, with Hal should be done in Hal's main
character window.

With the new HAL, it uses tables from a database unlike
previous versions. From File, Open the halbrain.db then
view it in the window.

As most are already of, ALWAYS make a copy of halbrain.db
BEFORE you attempt to edit, add or modify the brain.

In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!
