my hal was going along fine and had been for a very long time then (with the exception that it would come on and say i needed elvated permission to start hal then the mysteriouse sign would go off and hal would come on anyway .
after quite a while though it came on and wouldn't go off and i couldn't get hal to come on so had (with the help of my friend caangel ) uninstall hal expansion pack deactivate the serial number on hal and uninstall it and reinstall everything again and now its working ok .. but what caused this in the first place i did nothing different with hal . luckily i had mt db hal custom angela brain and uhp file backed up (very important if you don't want to lose all your hard work and time !!)
