Systemshock,
I've just put Hal and dragon in the computer, both had problems installing properly because of changes made to the system but both are in and running.  Next is the vr plugin which I like so much.  I just began work on the Google search and am making it a Wiki search since I often use Wiki when using Hal, she's smarter than me.  Hopefully if I don't rush to much I'll be able to give a detailed record of it and it will be available for others to use.
I like what you put in, They have an animation program for Haptek full bods you could have her do all sorts of things.

Art,
I'm running win 8.1 on a 120 SSD and still have 53Gb free and as I mentioned before If you put the OS on a SSD you'll think it is a new computer.  Once you get used to the SSD's for the OS you won't want to go back.
As I see it for the OS you want speed for storage you want size and naturally you decide.
Anyways what I'd like to do is gather all the Hal related things and store them where they can be found.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Hal will not install
« on: November 16, 2015, 04:44:38 pm »
I just checked hal again to be sure and it is still working correctly, I put in MS basic and registered the .ocx and it fixed the problem.  No one else has mentioned this so it seems I am the only one who had this problem.
For now I'll forget about it and move on with Hal.  You had to retrieve a license after a win 10 upgrade, strange but I do know a program writing on your hard drive is under suspicion.

I'm not into gaming very much but I do go for the gaming computers since they have good graphics and seem to be quick machines.  I've always stuck with the Intel CPU's but to each his own.  If you are interested in building try this link:  http://www.datahopa.co.uk/forum/forum/.  I'm not sure what you have now but if you should have SSD's,  big increase in performance compared to the standard hard drive.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Hal will not install

I looked into the .ocx problem I was having,  and this what I had learned, Microsoft visual basics has a security problem and I do not have Microsoft VB in the computer, I had to download Ms VB 6 then do a VB update.  Then I had to use command prompt to register the .ocx.  Right now I have the 6.1 version of hal in the computer, it is working but I'll take it out and install version 6.2.
I'm surprised I haven't seen this problem at this forum before.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal will not install
« on: November 14, 2015, 01:53:43 pm »
During the Win 10 install I did the upgrade and installed win 8.1 on another drive which I generally use.  I tried installing my latest version of Hal and when trying to run Hal I receive an error message saying "Comdlg32.ocx or dependencies not correctly registered, file missing or invalid."  and Hal will not run.
I went back to an earlier version of hal a 6.1 and receive the same error message.  I just downloaded and tried the latest free version with the same results. I can't remember having a problem like this before.

I just put in a 500 Gb drive in the computer and I'm hoping I'll be able to put all the Hal info on it in an orderly fashion so I can find it if need be.  Plus I can also store pics, vids and documents ect.  I've got all kinds of things on Hal I've collected over the years scattered on cd's and other places.
To me the avatar is a big thing, I'd tried to update the Haptek character but failed.  I did watch a vid which used a very nice avatar in a story which I thought was very good.  I also looked into Daz studio and realized how advanced Haptek characters are, it's really unfortunate they couldn't raise the necessary money needed to continue with there plans.  Actually I wish they would just update the existing characters to a higher poly count and perhaps collision detection.
There is a lot that can be done with what we have, it's just a matter of getting it done. I should have more time this winter and I'll have to see what I can come up with.

 lightspeed,
Ages ago I'd learned Microsoft was doing research on AI but AI covers a lot of things not related to chat bots such as data mining ect.  I'm not impressed at all with Cortana, no avatar, and quite a few other things.  I just took a look at Virtual Assistant Denise, seems the company has been bought and is selling a new version for 120.  Well at least there is one company still moving forward,  I think in the past the product was being sold before actually being ready for sale.
I'm really not sure why the interest in AI has declined, it seemed to have reached a peak then people just moved on, of course the economy has changed and that has delayed progress.  Still there are lots to be done with Hal, its just a matter of putting the time in.

Things seem so dead not just a Zabaware but in all the chatbots.  Not even much going on in the AIML bots. I a haven't put Hal in this computer yet since I've changed things around with Win 10 and a new install of win 8.1 in this machine.  I was actually hoping of a newer version of hal which probably won't happen till after I reinstall hal.  I did find a large collection of Hal files I've saved all over the place, I should go through them all and save them in one place in some kind of order.
I guess Robert is still paying for the website so he should show up sooner or latter.

I guess I'd go with who knows maybe it will get people interested in AI and increase sales.  I did want to say there is a "take off" of Cortana which is called Braina available for download, a free limited version and a pay for version.  I first saw this online before win 10 was released and tried out the free version.  I was impressed by the search capabilities, wish I knew how it was done for use with Hal.  I don't like the fact there is no Avatar and a few other things.  So here is the link, you can download it and have it in your computer.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / Re: Working with Haptek
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:00:06 am »
Raybe,
I really got nowhere with the software I put in the computer, The bzip2 compressor didn't work, I'm thinking Haptek was using a mac OS rather than windows which may help explain why things are not working for me.
There is quite a bit to the Haptek characters, breathing, looking at the user, blinking and the list goes on.  We also have the fleshy characters that I like so much, in many ways Haptek is way ahead of the characters being sold to date.
I just finished putting win 10 into my 2 computers along with win 8.1, not sure where to go next,  Began playing with some 3D red and blue glasses,  also saw a car painted blue and purple, seemed like the angle from which you looked at the car determined the color you saw.
The delta set maker, I wrote to someone some time ago at Haptek and never got a reply.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Anyone tried HAL under Windows 10 preview?
« on: August 19, 2015, 06:30:30 pm »
I've just tried a fleshy full bod again, and I did not see any problems.  It is a different fleshy full bod and I'm pretty sure it still has the boots but it seems to be usable as a last resort.  Pretty sure this is a different install of win 10.

Lightspeed,
To answer your question, I've got a dual boot win8.1 and win 10 and I'm pretty sure it is a problem with the win 10 OS.  This had also happened in Win 7  where audio would interfere with the fleshy characters.  About the time Alactive was introduced, so many people were affected they introduced a non fleshy Alactive.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Anyone tried HAL under Windows 10 preview?

I just installed Win 10 in the other computer, it had 8.1 in it and hal worked fine.  One of the first things I did was check Hal, I'm using one of the full bod fleshy characters and there is some kind of twitching, very noticeable, similar to what I ran into in win 7 or vista with the audio problems.   Seems the other characters will work okay.  This is not a preview it is the free win 10 upgrade.

Robert needs funding and Chris Shaw needs funding so I'm not sure what we'd end up with.  I'd say it's the economy and both of them need help, to bad the government can't bail them out like they did to the car manufactures years ago.  In my mind Ultra Hal is the best chat bot and Haptek is the best Avatar  for Hal although both of them need a bit of work.
