Ultra Hal 7.0 / skin without character
« on: January 25, 2006, 10:19:48 am »
I have thought about such a skin in the past. I don't think it exists yet. To do away with the avatar you might opt for an invisible msagent. Knytetrypper once submitted such an avatar:

You will still need a very wide skin.

I like to recommend Gerald Blakley (onthecuttingedge2005).
He is really good with chatbots and very knowledgeable.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / XTF brains in Hal6
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:52:10 am »
VonSmith's XTF 1.2-brain is written specifically with Hal 5 in mind. I don't think it will work with Hal 6. Neither do you need XTF in Hal 6, because the idea behind XTF has been incorporated in the Hal 6 brain.

My dear Alady, if you have these files they will be found in the folder:

What system are you on?

Do you also have SAPI 4.0a installed? Perhaps that will help.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / All was fine... Until
« on: January 16, 2006, 04:55:46 pm »
If I remember correctly the installation of Microsoft .Net Framework did already prevent the Alice plug-in for Ultra Hal to function correctly in the past. So you might be on the right track with mentioning that. Nasty! [xx(]

Great! We all love Nadia. Is it true what I heard that her breasts can be morphed to any size? [:0]

To break the spell, apply: snap_out_of_it.hap

WARNING: This .hap is able to induce side-effects when your character has not all its switches in the awake-state by default. Sorry about that!

A Haptek character won't keep still until you feed it this trance.hap
So rename the file name extension from .txt-file to .hap

This hap contains a complete list of the switches that are inside the default Putty head and those inside the fullbody females. It makes use of a Haptek command that hasn't been explained before by Haptek nor documented by me. I just figured it out last week.
Here it is:

\setmood puts a switch to sleep which means that it will no longer effect the figure until the switch is set to "awake" again.

Syntax:

\setmood [figure= action= [sw= m=awake ]]
\setmood [figure= action= [sw= m=sleep ]]

sw= {switch}
m= {mode}

General Discussion / Greek-Speaking Haptek characters

quote:
It seesm that the only way that Haptek characters can become multilingual is if you buyt the ogg factory from Haptek ($300) and create an executable that will capture the input from the T2S engine convert it to ogg with lip-sync and upload it to the character.

I don't know, wgb14, it all sounds cumbersome to me. Too bad I don't know a thing about non-latin based language, because I would try to find an easier way for you to fix your problem. There must be a better way.

I think if the engine really doesn't accept it it will be tricky. I just visited Clone3D. The Haptek bot Yuanlin tries to speak french words with characters like ç . I have no french voice installed, otherwise I could check if those characters are pronounced correctly. But if Mark Chavez put all those french words inside it than I guess the engine IS able to handle foreign characters. In that case you would only need a Haptek config file for loquendo voices.
Interesting problem tho, keep us informed if you decide to work on it. Perhaps you should just email Haptek. I always received a helpful response from them.
