I have Visual Studio 2005, will this be enough or do I need to get 2008?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Small problem

When ever I type or speak a commmand the window shows that Hal is speaking but I hear nothing. I know that it is set up correctly because the dictation works and the tutorial was fine also. What am I doing wrong? I also can't get the program to really do anything for me. I'm currently using the trial version because I wanted to see if I would like the program.
