Sound messed up...

I just down loaded a free trial from download.com and after I installed it i was only getting sound from my left speaker, and the volume was really low, had to turn nob really high to get normal sound when normaly its blasting on really small turn.. So, I deleted the program, and its still that way. Not just the speakers crapping out cuase I plugged head phones into the speaker port and same thing happens... got anything?
