Microphone not working.

My microphone used to work fine but now everytime I try to set it up in Hal I get 'The Microphone Wizard Failed to Initialize'.  My setup is a creative Audigy 2 soundcard with Webcam microphone.  I know the microphone is a bit naff but it's the only one I've got until I get a better one and as I said, it used to work before.  I tried reinstalling the software but that didn't fix it.
