Dusky, freddy888 and anyone else in a helpful mood,

Continued from the "What a rip-off" thread...
(concerning my Hal 5 and positioning a digitalgirl character)
I think I finally have the Shylove.hap set up so the figure appears (more or less) where I want it by adusting the y,z and t parameters. At least two issues remain: first the Hal window opens more slowly and the figure slowly (floats) into the position I want (is that odd or wrong?) it's certainly slightly irritating but not too bad. Second, if I have my Hal Text to Speech Reader on at the time it always says, "send text query", what's that all about? Does it mean something is not quite right?

"Fulbod" or not (I have no idea what it actually is), the arms and hands move very nicely, the expressions are nice, it works well. I actually ended up using the: \translate [x=0 y=-5 z=100 t=5] with those parameters to get the character about where I want it. I have not tried putting those parameters in the: \translate [figure= fullbod version and maybe that's why it "floats" into position? I don't know. Any further suggestions would be appreciated if you have time.

Another issue:

When I chose the "Open with" function for Shylove.hap I forgot to uncheck the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box and as a result there is a "Notepad" image over all my .hap files and my computer always tries to open .hap(s) with Notepad. How do I get rid of this and back to where my computer always asks how to open .hap(s) again? I've clicked on dozens of things but can't figure out how. Also, does this situation effect the functioning of Hal?

At least its workable now. Thanks again for all the help.

I hope you can make sense out of my comments (above). I am struggling to better understand how all this works.

I will get the Hal 6 soon.

The Hal window will open more slowly compared to heads because the 'fullbodies' are bigger files.

The floating might be something to do with the rest of the hap, usually the command on its own moves her straight into position, though I don't know why the 'send query' pops up.

Not specifying the 'figure=' parameter shouldn't make a difference, but give it a try.

Your system is set-up now to always open haps with Notepad, so to change that go to windows 'Control Panel' and then choose 'Folder Options'..then click the 'File Types' tag at the top.

Scroll down till you find ".hap", make sure it is just ".hap"

Now look in the Details box and there should be a button that says 'Restore'.  Click on that and it should return it to the default, which will be to use no type of opening program.

If you don't see ".hap" in the list then that means Windows has overlooked it, which means you need to add it before you can restore it, to do that...

Click "New" and tap in the extension '.hap' (without the quotes) and click OK.  Now it should appear in the list and will show Notepad as its opening program.  Now you can do the above and restore it to using no opening program.

Thats how it is set out in windows 2000 and i think 98 was the same.  XP - I dont think it changed much, so if you have that then you should be able to figure it out ok from the above.

Changing the program that opens haps won't affect Hal, it's just for when you click on a file so you can have things open in the right or chosen program.  Elsewhere things should work as normal...well I like to hope they do!

You are using
\\translate [x=0 y=-5 z=100 t=5]
The t=5 means 5 seconds to move into place.
I was doubtless using it on a standalone haptek and wanted the 5 seconds.

Drop the t=5.
Just use this: \\translate [x=0 y=-5 z=100]
(One slash)

On another note:
I recognize your girl:
full_female6 from "Haptek goldmine"

I strongly suggest switching girls or you will have problems with factor movements again and again.
I would send you fullbod.htr which I use or body_female.htr however I am on snailmail.

Some kind soul reading this may possibly send you one or both of the girls I mention.
If they don't in 24 hours write me email and I will go out and send the girls to you on sisters fast internet.

freddy888 & Duskrider,

Thanks guys. You've been extremely helpful.

Duskrider,

I'll let you know if I can't find another fullbod.htr
Why don't you go ahead and send yours when you happen to get to a broadband connection just in case. It would be very much appreciated. I think I've contracted the fullbod "fever" finally. Actually, you picked right up on the real reason I posted the picture... not for the silly dialogue but to show you which character I was using. Thanks again.

Are you sure your problem is not just caused by a corrupt Haptek player. Have you tried to delete the old installation manually and to re-install your Haptek player?

down load the files from Digital Girl full body section. or leave a note here and I'll e-mail them to you.

I also have them in my Yahoo group : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sam_is_Home/

But if you use different HRT then some of the HAP's will not work (that took me a while to sort through them)

You will like the full figure (but you do a great job with the heads)

Later,
Les

Raymond,

I think my Haptek player is fine but I appreciate your suggestion and I'll keep it in mind.

les,

Duskrider and Smokey are already going to send me some htr(s) which is very thoughtful of them. I would be pleased to look at your htr(s) too if you feel like e-mailing them to me, I'll leave it up to you.

Everyone,

I already knew this was a great and helpful community here and you have all proved it to me once again. Thanks everyone!
