Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to customize hal to be able to do more complex tasks such as restart/turn off the computer, play music files, log on to my email accounts and the such.  Unfortunately, I dont have any experience in programing at all.  Is there any way someone could help me, or lead me in the direction of a tutorial?  Any help would be great.
Thanks!

OK, I have been looking into the batch files that some people have available for download.  I cannot get Hal to open any batch files.  I just put them on my desktop and when I ask him to open/run them he says he cannot find it in his database.  How do I get him to open them?

Search (at the top right) for Rich_A.
He did a lot of work with controlling Hal
via batch files.

Welcome and good luck!

I have just what the Doctor ordered.

Download the Extended File Assistant here:
http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3089&whichpage=2

It will do what you want and a lot more.

Also note that in the same posting area is a script I designed to control your CD-ROM which can also be used with my file assistant plug.

Thanks for the file, but im still having problems...
I installed the file assistant, restarted hal, and activated it in the options, but for some reason he is still not recognizing any of the batch files.  I put them in "my documents", gave hal the directory, but he says the same thing...
