How can it be faster?

I created my own ActiveX Control to replace hal face with a new face of my own. However it is toooo slow. It almost eats up all the resource of my computer, and Hal crashes always. How come? [?]

Could anyone please give any hint to me? What is the work progress inside hal? Is there anything i must pay more attention? I would extremely appreciate if anyone can help me work it out. Many thanks.
